No brainer. Make Arnett permanent, Spurrier Jr. OC and then either promote a DC from within or hire from the outside. Stability…Stability…Stability

That was the Saint’s line of thought last year. It doesn’t always work out as expected.

That said, considering the circumstances, it’s probably their best option at this time.

Totally different circumstances. Sean Payton did not die during the season. Plus State still has the QB coming back. Saints HoF QB retired.

Not even close.

Promote ZA to HC permanent and keep everything as is to the extent possible. To me it is the only viable option there is.

State's roster is married to the Air Raid at this point.

This is an honest question from a place of relative ignorance: aside from having zero TE's, what about State's roster is married to the air raid?

State will go back to a running attack, they’ve got the dumbest fan base in football. They will tear down everything leach had built.

There was a portion of them on genespage that wanted leach fired for passing too much. Total, losers.

I mean, you can run air raid and commit more to the run. Finding true tight ends is hard, but it can be done.

Mike Leach didn't run his offenses that way, but some air raid guys think differently.

I think for the overall good of those players, you give Arnett at least a year.

Last thing they need right now is another fruit basket turnover of the coaching staff. Keep what is in place and hire position coaches as needed and roll.

Yes, different circumstances. That wasn’t my point. New Orleans’ thought process was the same as you are suggesting.

Also, Drew was not the Saint’s QB last year, Winston was. In fact, over the last few years Sean had been utilizing the entire QB room because Drew became injury prone.

My point is, Dennis Allen inherited the same situation as Sean had been working with and has produced drastically different results.

Again, promoting from within is probably the best option for State at this time. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

Every fanbase has idiots. The reality is they were mad Leach hadn’t beat ole miss yet. Leach won the naysayers over for the most part after winning the egg bowl this year.

Really sucks he didn’t get the chance to continue to build our program. I think he would have done something special

I don’t agree it was just the egg bowl, you had that group on genespage who literally hated leach and called for him to be fired on a daily basis. They were actually mad after the egg bowl win, hoping they could fire him.

Those are the losers I’m talking about

Right now it is the only option. Obviously there are risks associated with it but a stable Coaching staff is crucial right now. Hopefully that will lead to minimal roster turnover too.

Such a bad taste post. Can the MSU and SEC fans mourn Leach for just one week before people start looking for his replacement? You should be ashamed dude.

Do you really think Keenum is sitting in his office only mourning and not thinking about this 90% of the time? Do you not think, whoever has been interviewing for AD has not been calling their coaching contacts since Sunday?

Will it be in bad taste when other teams start poaching our recruits and portal targets? Do you not think they are going to bring up any lingering uncertainty with our program?

We have to act swiftly and decisively, just like Leach would if he were in a similar position.

Because State fans are DEFINITELY in charge of the hiring process. And you had the nerve to call other people dumb!!!

Go with Arnett, give home at least 2 full seasons to see what he can do, might be a home run hire for State..

I like Arnett and think has a lot of head coach qualities. I don’t know if he’s ready or not but frankly it’s the best option of a horrible situation.

If it doesn’t work out, reassess things in a year or two. But it might work out perfectly fine. Zach’s defenses were a huge part of Leach’s success at State, and he’s an intense and organized guy that had two of the most respected coaches in the country as his mentors (Leach and Rocky Long).

Actually you let Arnett focus on Defense and let Spurrier/Miller formulate a game plan and call plays. We already have an assistant head coach. He may not be a popular choice but that's his role and he already has 3 years as a head coach and a top Mississippi recruiter. He may have been bad as HC but that's the best moving forward until after the bowl game.

if this was happening in Gumpville and Saban bit the dust you gumpsters would be climbing the walls looking for his replacement.

hell, the SEC committee of cheaters would be clambering for his upstart so gumpville would continue the 'entitlement' lifestyle.

get off your high elephant and stop looking down on the Bulldogs.
