Salt Lick is better Austin BBQ than Franklin's.
I live in GA and appreciate pork, but to me, there is nothing better than perfectly done Texas brisket and sausage.

Brisket will always be king. Also, lol @ people that put coleslaw on a bbq sandwich
Whole hog is the granddaddy of Bbq competitions for a reason. Cole slaw on a pulled pork sandwich is how its supposed to be done junior. Since you are from Texas and really wouldn't know much about pork bbq you kind of have an excuse for your ignorance.

Franklin BBQ in Austin is the best. I stood in line for hours and leftovers were good the next day, reheated. No need for sauce.
Charleston has this. We got the goods all within one mile.

I agree. Most people dont know how tasty a good hash over rice is.
My first wife was from Augusta, Georgia and I grew very fond of hash back then.

Beef is not bbq. When you grill out at home that is not a bbq unless you're grilling pork.

Bbq is not a meat it's a cooking style

We don't always eat mustard based BBQ. Hash and rice with some mac and cheese and collards! Now that's eating!

I ate at whole hog yesterday. It was okay. Much better than what I could get in South Carolina. But it didn’t even compare with the good places in Texas. I honestly can’t even imagine how anyone thinks it does.
One caveat on SC BBQ. There is a place in Charleston called Lewis BBQ. A Texas guy who started a place in Charleston, and it’s great.

Agree. In Houston they think sliced beef is BBQ...uggghhh.
My cousin who grew up here in MS, will purposely get real pulled pork when she comes home. She has lived in Houston for over 40 years. Sad that they don’t understand real BBQ in the 4th largest city in the country.

It’s hard to know where to start with this stupid shite. BBQ is smoked, not grilled, you goddam yankee.

Salt lick is some of the most overrated in the state. Not even top 25.
