re: What’s an American history hot take you’ve got?
Posted by Floyd Dawg on 8/20/26 at 9:16 am to 91TIGER
Yes because the real young lady (Claudette Colvin) who was first was unmarried and pregnant; black leaders like King hated the optics and looked for a more sympathetic victim.

She’s the assistant coach not the head coach. There are 2 female assistants.
Andreu Swasey is the head coach.

re: Gen Z Dumping Retirement Money into Gambling Instead of Actual Retirement Accounts

The only thing I’ve ever seriously gambled on is my ability with a set of golf clubs. I will gamble on occasion on blackjack or craps (and did so on my recent cruise), but if I can’t directly influence the outcome, I’m not interested in risking money on it.
Virginia mental patients are allowed to roam free.

ETA: NY Post
Dude was found not competent to stand trial for killing his landlord. Committed to state mental hospital. Allowed out to travel to DC to get a passport (WTF?!?). Allowed out again on a 48 hour pass, where he promptly goes straight to Dulles and gets on a one way flight to Tajikistan (no extradition natch). As Lombardi said, What the hell is going on out here?!?

My 15 year old goes to bed at 9:30 and is up at 6:15.
re: How good is your D?
Posted by Floyd Dawg on 8/12/26 at 8:00 pm to Landmass
Georgia D will be VERY good this season. Fourth against the run last year and 7 of the top 8 are back. I also expect us to get far more sacks than the 20 we got last season (which was pathetic).

I’d wrap her face in the flag and do it for my country…

Too many to count in professional golf.
I homered off former Reds P Joey Hamilton in HS. It’s alleged that was the only HR he gave up in 4 years.

Garrison Hearst. They surprisingly won a lot to a little
I have the best Garrison Hearst story from his time at UGA. We played the FB team in the intramural softball tournament; Hearst is on first base and I was playing first. I tutored G and Andre Hastings, so I knew him pretty well. Foul pop up about 15-20’ outside 3rd base and even with the base. G tags up, I yell Where you goin’?, he takes off and beats the throw standing up. Might be one of the most impressive athletic feats I’ve ever seen in person along with a 6’ high jumper take off from just inside the foul line and posterize a 6’10” D1 center.

Anywhere is going to be a drive from downtown. Echelon in Alpharetta and the Frog in Villa Rica are good. I also like Woodmont in Canton.

There are two decent options within a reasonable drive from Truist Park. Dogwood in Austell and City Club Marietta. I prefer City Club myself.
It he wants a really top end course Echelon in Alpharetta would be it. I also recommend the Frog in Villa Rica but those are both hefty drives.

It matters what part of town. I can give you recommendations all over the metro area, but where you will be based/spending most of your time will be the determining factor.

There is only one silver lining to Fauci's pardon. His Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination no longer applies and he is forced to testify.

I was a student in the ‘90-92 seasons. 1990 was godawful (4-7), yet somehow we beat Alabama that year. ‘91 was better and in ‘92, we could have won it all. We were that good, but couldn’t get over the UF hurdle.
