All that "Ode to Georgia" with all the birds and not a damn one of them is the official state bird, the brown thrasher.

Major fail on Malbon's part.

re: UNC to hire Michael Malone

I would have preferred Billy Donovan, but this isn't a bad hire at all. It's certainly not "settling". As many before have said, he specializes in developing the bigs, something UNC is well known for putting into the league.

I did hear folks in Chapel Hill talking about running the athletic department more like a pro organization, so this may fit into that line of thinking.
UGA is in a similar position, but I expect the new coach to rectify it quickly.
As someone who attended UNC, I’m pleased with the Malone hire. Bubba was adamant about going outside the family for this hire and he definitely did that. I wanted Donovan, but this isn’t settling IMO.
Saw Phish in Athens at the original Georgia Theatre in 1991. Didn't get the attraction then, don't get it now.

All I got from it was it was a place to smoke weed that nobody else cared about because they were all smoking too.

Ole Miss with a 5 spot in the 9th. Wow…

Pretty cool to hear Buck Showalter on the UGA-MSU telecast. Did not know he was connected to Starkville; maybe an alum or coached there previously?
Foley Field in Athens being “small” has been debunked. Our LF foul pole at 350’ is the deepest in the conference; 402’ to CF is the second deepest and 314’ to RF is deeper than Mississippi State for sure and Vandy I think. It may be within a foot.

UGA wins 3-1 and goes for the sweep in Starkville tomorrow. First series win there since 2008.

UGA take the lead on another solo HR from Wynn. 2-1 top 8.
Go back and look at Tre Phelps’ catch for the second out of the 9th in Starkville last night. That was better IMO.

I thought the HP umpire squeezed Aoki on the curve ball at the bottom of the zone late. They looked very good.

Have you seen the trash we run out to start Sunday games?!? We’ll be lucky to avoid a sweep (which is all I want as a fan). Win one game and I’m satisfied with this series.
I keep thinking Riverbend or something like that. My girlfriend at the time lived in the complex now known as Arches on the Lake right next to the golf course when they were built in the early 90s. Those are on Riverbend Rd.

The ones I’m trying to remember were about where the Hilltop Grille is now.
O'Malley's had drink and drown on Wednesday nights when I was a student in the early 90s. You drank free until someone went to the bathroom or left. Needless to say, the football team lined up just outside the restrooms and inside the exit doors. They also had nickel night well drinks on Thursdays (their big party night). I got hammered for a dollar many a Thursday evening.

ETA: What complex was at Atlanta Hwy and Alps Rd? I lived there a couple of summers but cannot remember the name of them to save my life.
Now the referee is either injured or cramping. Looks to be hurt enough to have to make way for the 4th official.

Yep, he’s off. Fourth official now takes the whistle. Gonna be an interesting last 10-12 minutes.
Congo DR up 1-0 halfway though extra time for the WC spot.

UGA up 6-3 after 6 innings, gives up 6 runs top 7 to go down 9-6 and scores 8 in the bottom half to win 14-9.

Bizarre game.
Bet they wait until June or later to save a year in his major league clock.

If you ignore CAF corruption and the AFCON competition rulebook entirely, proper application of the global Laws of the Game also results in a Senegal L - Leaving the field of play without referee permission is 1 of the 7 yellow card offenses - All 11 Senegalese players receive yellows - 3 Senegalese players already sitting on yellows are given a second and sent off - 8 man Senegal is trounced in ET

This is all well and good…. EXCEPT you forgot to read Law 5.2.

“The decisions of the referee regarding facts connected with play, including whether or not a goal is scored and the result of the match, are final. The decisions of the referee, and all other match officials, must always be respected.”

Ultimately, it’s the match official’s decision as to whether the game is to be terminated or abandoned or concluded. He and his team decided to continue with play after all the shenanigans. AFCON can’t tell him to terminate the match. They don’t have the authority.

Senegal will win the appeal based on this above.

I attended UNC for 2 years. I get my Dook hatred honestly.
