I appreciate that A&M cut bait before A&M could upset LSU or similar and make it harder to do what needed to be done.
Jimbo was just such a "on paper" hire. I think the average SEC fan going "whoa that's a lot of money, and for Jimbo? Weird" was a pretty big sign of things to come. No histrionics, no hate/rage/celebration, he was just a very known commodity in the conference and nobody feared what he'd be able to do.
So I think the desperation was hiring a dull "championship coach" that got a "meh" from your rival fanbases and paying him 100m bucks to leave a big name school that had fallen out of love with him anyway. I don't think the desperation move was moving on.

We dont have Scott Woodward squandering money away anymore, you do.
Woodard isn’t the one who extended Fisher’s contract to $95M/10 years after a modest 4 years.

What’s the mindset? We’re trying to win championships and realized the guy leading the program wasn’t going to get the job done, simple as that. Numbers are just numbers, is jimbo’s 77 million dollar buyout any different than the #2 of Auburn’s firing Malzahn for 20-whatever million? No. Same principle as any firing: you have a coach that you lose trust in, so you fire him hoping the next hire will be the right one. Rinse and repeat until you find the right guy.

Yes. It's a lot different.

You LSU dumbassses…lol…Texas and OU means the end of LSU relevance, it really won’t affect the largest university in the SEC and the country, Texas A&M. Texas and OU admission will crush LSU. Your tiny poor school in a shithole city, won’t be able to compete. You can shift smoke and mirrors, rob children’s hospitals., all you want…it won’t matter, you have been relegated to the bottom levels of the SEC. Aggies aren’t worried about Texas or OU. LSU should be.

LOL. You haven't won a conference championship since 1998. You've been preaching the same shite since you joined the conference 11 years ago and haven't won shite. Oklahoma owned you both in the Big 12. Meanwhile ...

It's understandable to me that they would be upset that with their facilities, money, and recruiting success they can't field a team to challenge (at least) for a divisional title and SECCG appearance.
Maybe they should take some of that money and buy officials like we do.

quote:If Auburn had only paid Malzhan's buyout of +/-$27MM it would've been a big difference compared to what aTm's paying Fisher. But Malzhan & his expensive staff + Harskin & his staff bring that Auburn tally pretty damn close to aTm's numbers for Fisher's buyout.

It's jaw dropping but people with money will pay a premium to be relevant.

Nope.
That was their current AD, if Jimbo was still on his original contract, they'd only owe him $30 mil but they gave him a ridiculous extension for no reason.

LSU fans worrying over what A&M will pay its next coach while they're paying grinding Brian 9.5 million a season.

These two schools butt bothered yall so much you ran away from them, but you brought your losing records with you. Your shite tier, bottom feeder, oil rich faux military cringe school now has nothing over them. They're SEC now (at least as much as you are) so you can't dangle that.
Keep dreaming the addition of OU and Texas will be the end of LSU. Adding you peter puffers certainly wasnt. Then again they are both better than you aren't they?

What’s worse is there’s only 2 more games left until their worst nightmare happens again next year

Partially true dude, but Texas Tech is the school that beat up on aggy in the Big 12.
Tech bullied aggy so much they rammed their goal posts in to the aggy section after Tech stomped aggy 12 to 0.
It was then aggy started their exit plans.
I have seen videos of it and it is a brutal dunk on the aggy.
Tech was aggy primary rival.

Simple for someone who understands business.
Would you pay 9.5 MM a year to lose and fall further behind?
It’s called a “sunk cost.” We are moving on.
I hope you don’t operate your own business.

Let’s see, hmmm, you’re currently on the books for what $117,000,000 for Obregon and Kelly at your poor little school? And we only owe Jimbo about $75,000,000? Bet we hire a new coach snd still come under that.
Well, LSU already settled with Orgeron so that’s out.
Kelly is a current coach…
Since you can’t also do math let me help…
75M (Jimbo) + minimum 75M (new guy) is 150M.
150M is greater than 117M
