re: Is tupelo honey the best honey in the world

When I was in Maine last year, every light pole in Bangor had a rainbow flag on it (trans version). I bet there is not one American flag hanging there now.
Thanks to all of you for the encouraging words. Without going into too much detail, she had a tumor removed 5 months ago but it has now metastasized. Thankfully appears limited in area.
Anyone had a spouse go through chemo?
Posted by Slippy on 6/25/26 at 12:24 pm
My wife starts next week. Trying to figure out when to expect the “bad” days that I need to take off work and be with her. Thankfully my coworkers are champs and will cover for me no matter what happens.
What is the normal course? How long does the misery from chemo last? Just trying to prepare. TIA.

Trashy.
Is this socialist revolution real, or is it an illusion?
Posted by Slippy on 6/24/26 at 12:28 pm
It is starting in left leaning cities like New York and Seattle. Right now these cities seem to be the only place the socialists are thriving politically. (Yeah, there are a few bright blue states, but they are the outliers.)
I read a Megan McArdle column this morning (love her) and she pointed out that while cities are where all the socialist energy is, they are the hardest place to actually implement socialism, because the money can simply leave and go somewhere else. So all the promises of free this and free that are not kept, because there is no money to pay for the free shite.
When socialists start to get traction in state and national races (and they will), what then? Do moderate Democrats stick with them or jump ship? I find all of this fascinating.

Underappreciated post.
Good thread. On this note, what are the best northshore courses for retired folks who are not too "old"? I'll be moving over there in a couple of years and will look to play once a week or more.

Do I have to hear his caddie say "good process" before every shot again today? Because that sort of made me want to kill myself.
Somebody explain the outdoor griddle phenomenon to me.
Posted by Slippy on 6/20/26 at 11:26 am
Friend of mind just got a Blackstone and is really proud of it.
It’s expensive. It takes up a lot of space on his patio. And it’s a griddle. Nothing outdoorsy about the flavor… no wood, no charcoal, no smoke. It’s a griddle. I have one in my pantry that I use for pancakes. I don’t get it.

Their drink of choice appears to be Modelo in a can.
These people are all some species of white, btw.
Sorry, White.

Neighbors up the street have like 6 cars in the driveway at all times. Late in the evenings, they’re all standing outside smoking and drinking and being loud af. One of the young “men” rolls up in his muscle Challenger with the music blaring and no muffler. Lots of tats at that address.
They are ruining my idyllic upper middle class existence.
ETA: The “mom” of this outfit appears by all accounts to be a MILF. They haven’t lived there very long, so I’m still trying to figure out the family dynamic.

I feel you, bro. My wife was just diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
Godspeed. Hope he recovers.

The giant taco salad.
Been to both. Fenway Park is my favorite place in the universe. They have done a pretty good job adding onto it to make it more fan-friendly over the decades, but it's still very dated. Both aren't going to compete with new places with modern amenities. Hell, at Wrigley you can still be sitting behind a pole.
I like that both parks are small and intimate and inviting.. Truly as much of a cultural experience as it is a sporting event.

I think he needs to move to Florida, get a sports car, and bang every young strumpet who will give him the time of day.
And I know he is reading this right now.
Godspeed, my brotha.

Is a point in space ever the same from one second to the next?
Everything is moving, always. We never pass through the same exact point in space twice in our lives.
