The trick is being a top program consistently when you're losing talent to the draft every year. Saban's the only coach I can really think of that hasn't suffered from it like Pete Carrol did at USC or even Urban Meyer.

No butt hurt here. I’m a Bama fan that lives in Ga and pull for Ga when not playing Bama, just don’t agree with build up of Kerby just yet. The East was a dumpster fire this year and the West wasn’t where it’s been in years past. If he keeps it up then great and I’ll admit it and jump on board the Kirby is great bus but for now I want to see more body of work and see how he competes against the east when it’s more than an average division. Ritch recruited very well at Ga and had some great players already in team for Kirby, Ga is loaded talent wise so if you’re able to keep them in state you already have an advantage. Pull a few from Fl, and you automatically have a top 5 class. Add the top player from Tn & NC and you’re sitting on top.

If Bama wants Kirby they will go after him. They will not get him, but they will make UGA pay to keep him!!!

We won't be a bunch of pussies, handwringers like the rest of the SEC.

We'll hire LEACH!

Not really a comparable situation, unless Saban hangs on for 10-15 years.

Don't think he'll ever test the NFL waters?

Kirby won’t leave UGA on his own
Dabo, there might be 1% chance he leaves C , why follow Saban at Bama when you can be Bear at Clemson
I can easily see Pruitt or even Jimbo, but the buyout for him is ridiculous.

The hire will probably be some one like Chad Morris after success at Arkansas or Mike Bobo if he gets CSU rolling.

Not many top coaches want to follow Saban.

I think Bama is the best job in the country if your name is Bryant or Saban; it’s horrible if it’s not.

I think IF we go after Dabo, he would leave Clemson. It's hard to turn down your alma mater and former team when they hand you the keys to the kingdom, unlimited resources and a whopping check

Not to mention he'd be walking into a kush situation with a talent-heavy roster

Doubtful... I mean... never say never, but sincerely doubt it. A good portion of his skillset is in recruiting which has near zero value in the NFL.

I’m not sure how this is a factor. If being an SAE had anything to do with it why wouldn’t he want to be at Bama considering that’s where it was founded?

It implies he has roots at UGA that no amount of money would lead him away from, dingus.

Maybe... but he’s bought in so much and been so successful; he’s pretty much did the whole Dooley and Dye thing.

Dye played at UGA but is an Auburn man
Dooley the reverse.

He’s basically built a theme park there , he’s Clemson’s Walt Disney basically.

I still say Dabo but Kirby is recruiting like he wants the Bama job. Discuss..

I suspect since Kirby went to and played for Georgia he will be here for awhile, so I am going to guess Dabo.

I got that but I don’t see why being an SAE is an kind of factor. The fact he went to school at UGA, and played at UGA are good arguments for why he wouldn’t leave.

Mhmm. Almost without fail every bama fan I know that lives here hates UGA. You'd think someone was forcing them at gunpoint to live here or something

Honest question, seriously...what could he possibly have done up to this point that would make you "agree with the buildup"? Go the playoffs his first year as well in addition to this one? Go undefeated this year?

quote:

for now I want to see more body of work

So we aren't allowed to judge coaches until they've been there [X] amount of years? I assume you said the jury was still out on saban after his 2008 bama season?

quote:

see how he competes against the east when it’s more than an average division

The gap is only going to widen with the way we're recruiting. Ever think the division may seem average because we are so head and shoulders above the rest of it?

quote:

Ritch recruited very well

Richt recruited well. He recruited a ~10th ranked class yearly, which was typically good for 3rd or 4th in the SEC behind bama/lsu/uf. Richt (nor any coach in uga history) has ever recruited like kirby is. That's a fact.

It's like you're trying to negate every positive thing kirby has done and say "well, I need to see just a littttle more".

No one is gonna question your gumpness of level of bama in you if you admit that kirby is killing it and making uga into a power.

There is no reason for Kirby to follow up Saban at Bama. He's the man at UGA and will be for some time.

I dont think either one will go to bama. I would think CNS replacement isnt even on the radar yet.

I agree, and at this point, I don't want either one of those guys. That said, the people who think Dabo wouldn't crawl through broken glass from Clemson to Tuscaloosa to coach at Bama are delusional.
