At this point in his career, I think he is very self aware of his strengths and weaknesses. X and O’s aren’t a strength. Recruiting, promoting a brand, navigating the administrative duties a strength. I believe he realizes the only way he can win at the next level is with a top level NIL, regardless of the school. He needs to over achieve in recruiting to compensate for coaching.
How many times have we seen a QB with a high ankle sprain be successful after a few weeks? Pribula had a dislocated ankle. Drink better not be considering this and focus on Zollers.

Hate that ole miss fans have to go through this every year. Something needs to be done with the way coaching contracts are structured. If they suck and fired they get a huge payday. If they win, they are poached and get a bigger payday. Wall Street and coaching, only professions you can get a big payday even if you suck.

I’m not an ole miss fan but how Kiffin is handling situation is bullsh**. You are either in or you are out. Ole miss has treated him well and he should return the favor by not dragging out his decision. He needs to check his ego and announce his decision.

Drink has gotten everything he’s asked for and is still bitching. His recruiting is outstanding but his coaching sucks. Who would you take pre NIL, drink or Pinkel? Pinkel would run circles around him in game.
Drink needs to nut up and win some meaningful games or move on. His recent actions, comments have put me in the camp of maybe he should move on.

Penn St job has been the opening I was most fearful. Initially I was hoping Drink and university would come to an understanding and Drink would dismiss rumors. I thought Drink was bought in considering support he has received.
I think Drink wants to emulate Kiffin in some respects and looks to how he’s handling this situation.
If Drink is going to slow play this, I’m happy to see him go. I would love to have continuity but don’t want to be held hostage each year by a coach that is still very suspect. Mizzou has options and can be a destination and successful with the right coach.

30 years ago a large rim was 16”. Sizes have increased but OEMs still concerned about the mass targets. Larger and lighter wheels may not ride as well depending on design and the resonant frequency. Hit a pothole or something and wheel can act like a tuning fork if frequency is too low. Suspension, tire size etc can dampen that but larger wheels tend to be not as forgiving as smaller.

Not a Saban fan. Pre NIL, swap Pinkel for Saban and both schools end up about the same. Saban had so many advantages at Alabama but is treated as the second coming. Hate him on game day but enjoy the digs about him paying players.

This is the first time he’s had some heat from Mizzou fans while having big time options. The fact he hasn’t shutdown rumors says he’s considering all options. Possibly working for leverage at Mizzou but more likely looking at how he can reset the clock somewhere else. If he stays at Mizzou, that’s a bold statement and believes he can correct some of his shortcomings.

Hartline is a very popular name on PSU boards.
Two most successful coaches in my adult life, Pinkel and Drink. Pinkel was solid x and o’s and looked for advantages. Wide splits on oline, spread offense, etc. His recruiting was ok as he always found a few diamonds in the rough. Not a dynamic personality but solid. Drink not much of an x and o, not very creative in finding advantages. Large personality, dynamic face of university, good recruiter.
At end of the day, both styles yielded similar results. Pinkel did more with less, drink less with more.
If drink leaves, we need to find another young, energetic coach with solid coaching experience. Drink has pretty much been learning on the job at Mizzou how to be a football coach. Franklin is a solid coach but not sure he has the energy to make Mizzou standout among recruits.
Lastly, Drink is well paid for his performance. I believe next 2-3 years will define his ceiling as a coach, whether at Mizzou or somewhere else. Not the best time for a coaching search but if he wants to leave we should let him go. Mizzou has a lot to offer and we don’t want to remain married to someone with a wandering eye.

Hope Drink and Kirby are aggressive tomorrow. Nothing really to lose. 3rd string QB, underdog, needing a win for any remote CFP hopes. Hopefully a totally different mindset compared to Alabama or Vandy games. Let it rip.
A lot of smoke around drink last few days. Coaches play things close to the vest. But if there is any truth to these rumors, I would hope Drink or AD force the issue in the next week. Can’t wait until end of season with new portal period. Drink was given the keys with little experience. Hopefully he acknowledges that and acts accordingly if he’s considering another position. Hoping drink and Kiffin stay put demonstrating the changing dynamic.

Penn St has been my biggest concern. LSU, Florida, Auburn doesn’t make sense for Drink with their history of coaching turnover. PSU has demonstrated they are more patient. I’ve thought Drink would be high on their list with his recent recruiting success in the area.
Saw a post comparing Chizek and Gundy careers. Got me thinking with new CFP. Over 10 years, would you rather be guaranteed 1 championship but no winning seasons after or no championship but in contention each year?
The golden parachute goes without saying. Coaches now are getting the CEO buyouts from late 90’s early 2000’s.
LSU may end up with the highest salaried coach. Any sitting P2 coach will need a large salary increase to balance the risk vs reward. Governor didn’t make things easy.
Beau looked good in Kansas game after 1st QTR. He hasn’t looked the same since except for a few drives here and there. Either Kansas is really bad or he has been injured. Very reminiscent of how cook looked last year.

As a Mizzou fan, I’m not sure if I would be excited or disappointed if he left. He’s done some good things but not sure how much was him vs university support and timing with NIL. His in game coaching is still questionable at times. If he does leave, I think it creates some exciting possibilities.
Watching sec officiated basketball is brutal. Tournament is nice distraction after football season.
