In only 4 games, I think Ricky was close to 700 yards against A&M's wrecking crew defense.

Take OU and TX out....That conference went years and didn't play a lick of defense.

We were in that conference as well and we've had 1,000 rushers more seasons than not in the SEC.

We had our most success through the air. Which is why we have 3 Heisman QBs, We do not totally rely on the pass like Air raid systems and we have had some pretty amazing RBs like Emmith Smith(you know, the all time leader of rushing yards in the NFL) and Fred Taylor and Neal Anderson. But we have msinly been pass heavy the last few decades..UF needs to rely on speed, not ground and pound.

Miami in the 80s had some solid QBs.

The rest of the list is ok.

Les Miles went 9-3 against Ole miss by running the ball.. that was his whole offense

They have had Clinton Portis, Ed James, Willis Mcgahee, Highsmith, Duke Johnson, etc

They have had a ton of great backs but they have won 5 titles since 1983, so def had good allround teams. They may be hard to watch sometimes nowadays..but in the 80d-90s they were killing it.

Sure, but when you think of great run first / run heavy offenses, when considering all time, LSU isn't one of the first teams that comes to my mind. LSU has certainly had some great running backs though. And some seasons have been run heavy. But considering all of history LSU is usually more balanced than a Penn State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, ND, etc...

LSU didn’t have a balanced attack until Nick Saban was hired, and then went right back to run heavy when Miles became the coach. Gerry Dinardo was still running a lot of triple option in the late 90s. We’d only had a handful of 2000 yard passing seasons until this century

Well they still have fewer than ND, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, and Penn State.

Impressive how far ahead OU is in this category.

Ok but we’re talking about all-time. 7 of LSU’s top 10 passing seasons have happened in the last 10 years and the other three have been in 2001, 2003, and 2006. You said historically lsu has been more balanced. Historically they really haven’t been.

Fair enough. Either way they haven't produced as many 1000 yard runners than the schools I listed on my subjective list of what schools come to mind.

I swear Tennessee had 10 in the 90s alone. I still have nightmares of Travis Henry, Jamal Lewis, and Jay Graham.

UGA over in the corner hoping nobody notices us and our one (1!) 1,000 yard receiver all time.
