Auburn (30) and Alabama (24) lead the way amongst original SEC members.

Oklahoma not surprising….guys like Billy Sims were very common in Oklahoma’s backfield for many years back in the day.

Yeah they had so many studs over so many years at that position. It was incredibly impressive what they were able to turn out at that position.

Texas number is surprisingly low overall given Royal's proclivity for running the ball.

Look at 1974 in Earl Campbell's freshman year.

Team: 3,487 yards rushing, No 1,000 yard rushers

Back in his heyday in the 1960s was even more team rushing yards than that and still no 1,000 yard rushers. I think he had 2x Roosevelt Leaks, and Earl Campbell x1 the whole time (I very well could be wrong but I know he had those 3 just not sure anyone else broke 1k under him)

Earl Campbell…..man he is my favorite running back of all time. I watched him growing up. Legs like tree trunks and a machine. Yellow Rose of Texas.

Not to mention how great a human being he is. Just sad how football crippled him. Great admiration for him as a person.
