We definitely had a few years where running back by committee kept some players from breaking a thousand.
1979 -The team rushed for over 3,700 yards... but our leading rusher only had over 700. We had 5 players with over 300.
2010 - Backfield of Ingram/Richardson/Lacy - highest number of yards was 875
2014 - Henry finished with 990 yards; Yeldon finished with 979 yards
2018 - Backfield of Damien Harris/Najee Harris/Josh Jacobs/Brian Robinson Jr - Leading rusher was 876 yards.
Last couple of years a lot of our rushing yards came from Milroe on either designed or broken plays.
It should also be noted that prior to Bobby Humphrey coming on board in 1986, we only had one player that broken 1,000 yards rushing (Johnny Musso, who did it in 1970 and 1971).
Hell, we didn't even have a thousand yard receiver until David Palmer in 1993... and he hit 1,000 EXACTLY.
These are the reason we never had a Heisman winner until Ingram in 2009.

Calm down guys, don't get your knickers in a twist. I don't have much of a problem with Texas athletes playing at blowU. They can't all play at Texas. OK to branch out. Jeez. Norman is only a couple hundred miles from the DFW Metroplex anyway.

Georgia has mostly been running back by committee since even in the days of Donnan (some of that was because of a lack of talent).
It would often take injuries to get 1 back more carries (Keith Marshall injuries getting Todd Gurley more carries. Sony Michel injuries getting Nick Chubb more carries and vice versa)

The last 5 seasons, we are essentially a 3 back offense.
Sometimes it is thunder, lightning, and 3rd down.
But more often, it appears to be zone blocking, man scheme, and 3rd down running back.
Frazier may brake that mold this season. But the past several seasons have had backs show significantly more success with specific blocking schemes per back.
Swift may be the last back who could equally destroy defenses regardless of blocking scheme consistently. There are similarities to Frazier, but he has yet to put it out on the field for a full season.

Absolutely bad arse killer defenses during the years those thousand yard rushers listed. You can't help it but if you weren't watching late 60s to late 80s I don't think you know what you're talking.

We (Auburn) used to churn out 1,000 yard rushers every season until the last few years. I believe Jarquez Hunter rushing for 1,200 yards is the best we've had during this 5 year losing drought.
We have always been the complete opposite when it comes to 3,000 yard passers and 1,000 yard receivers. Only Dameyune Craig in 1997 and Jarrett Stidham in 2017 have thrown for more than 3,000 yds in a season for us.
We've only had 2 guys go over 1,000 yards receiving in a season. Terry Beasley in 1970 and Ronney Daniels in 1999. Out of all the Power 4 programs, Auburn currently has the longest active streak without a 1,000 yard receiver. When we hired Hugh Freeze, he thought the media reporter was joking when they told him Auburn has only had two players go over 1,000 yds receiving. He said "I've had a 1k yard receiver every year I've been a HC and some years I've had 2 guys go over 1k receiving yards."
If Alex Golesh can't get anything going on offense during his time as Auburn HC, then I'll truly think our football program will just be a bottom feeder during this new era of college football. Something HAS to give!!!
