Freshman year are big classes, the old 400 students and half will fail. Once you enter your major and the ones that got weeded out are gone, it’s about 20 kids in a class.

All of the northern kids got wind of big football plus large Greek sysytems. Hence LSU, Bama, Tennessee and Ole Miss started to explode

Are those numbers for the MAIN CAMPUS of the schools or the entire system?
Search says...
As of Fall 2023, the University of Texas System had a total student enrollment of 256,783 students. This figure includes 192,853 undergraduates and 60,141 postgraduates.
More recent data indicates the system has grown, with preliminary data for Fall 2023 citing 257,718 students and other reports from late 2023/2024 stating enrollment exceeds 260,000 students across its academic and health institutions. The system's flagship campus, UT Austin, alone reached an all-time high of 55,000 students in Fall 2025.

I'd be curious to see what percentage pays full price.
Not many. If you parents make below a certain threshold, you basically get a full or near full scholarship. When they started doing that in the 90s, the parents income had to be $65k or less. No idea what the number is now.
