Lane still doesn't get enough credit for Chambliss.

Show me the other schools wanting him out of Ferris State and could use him to reach the playoff game.

I don't mind giving credit where it is due but the current LSU coach that found him was Charlie Weiss Jr. He's the one that deserves the credit for finding Chambliss and talking Kiffin into offering him.

But after the way Lane's split with OM happened and how energized UF is with Sumrall I'm happy how it played out how it did in hindsight.

That's fine. I think Sumrall was a good hire and will do well at UF. But, there is a reason this board is so obsessed with Lane. They saw how he resurrected Ole Miss' program and they are scared that he will do as well or better at LSU.

It wasn't Weis. Cox cut the film, gave it to Judge. Judge took it to Weis and then to Lane because he thought it was a skill set match and they had no real QB2 option.

That's not giving Judge or Weis any extra credit either. I don't think any of them really knew what they had until he balled out against Arkansas.

If that's true then that's fine too.

Well also this site is mostly LSU fans and people like to troll so yeah a lot of the discourse is just that

Better tell ESPN they got it wrong.

quote:

OXFORD, Miss. -- The day the spring transfer portal opened for Division II football players in April, Ole Miss co-offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. was glued to the computer screen in his office, watching highlights of then-Ferris State quarterback Trinidad Chambliss.
When Weis wanted to confirm that he was really seeing what he thought he was seeing, he called in quarterbacks coach Joe Judge.
Then, just to make sure they were both right about Chambliss' ability, they brought in co-offensive coordinator/tight ends coach Joe Cox for further confirmation.
"We better get Coach Kiffin," one of them said.

regardless of how players are found it's still impressive af what Lane can do with his talent at QB.

He made Blake Sims look decent.

Kiffin isnt HOF bound yet though. His demise wont be because of the QB. It will be because he burns one too many teams.

I think if you swap Cox and Weis here, you get the right story.

Why would the OC and QB coach take it to the TE coach? An OC is cutting up portal film?

Rainman found him and got Kiffin to take him in the summer. And if Simmons doesn’t get hurt we never know who Chambliss is.

That’s the QB talent identification skills of Kiffin.

While that’s probably true, I think fans are excited for multiple reasons outside of Glasscock finding Trinidad when no one else did. I think most would agree there are skills Trinidad has that a few summer drills cannot teach

Feels like low hanging clickbait

Very true. I could be wrong but that version of events doesn't match how the team operated traditionally.

Pretty sure your butt plug had nothing to do with finding Trinidad.

He was the co-OC right?

I thought I read this was just a highlight video on Twitter, could be wrong though.

The ESPN story also makes it sound like they thought they had found gold when they really thought they found someone with experience who could take some snaps if something happened to QB1.

We had zero backups at the time because someone transferred IIRC. Ben told me late in July of last year that TC was better than Austin and I told him he was full of shite.
