with the passing of skip, I started wondering what the sec mount Rushmore of coaches would be.
im thinking skip would have to be on it along with saban and bear Bryant. i dont know who would be the last one but it would probably have to come from basketball or the arkansas track coach.

UK fans will probably give you Adolph Rupp.
Dan Magill worth a look. UGA tennis. NCAA all-time winningest coach. 2x nat’l champion. Helped build collegiate tennis into its modern form, and established Athens as the universally agreed-upon Mecca for college tennis spanning a 50 year timeframe, 1970’s-today

Bear Bryant and Adolph Rupp are the two non negotiables. The other two are where it gets dicey.
The next two biggest sports are baseball and women's basketball so I'd say Skip Bertman and Pat Summitt would make sense.
But football is what this conference is about.

Agreed. Which is why I put that last sentence in my first post. That's what it SHOULD be.

how could skip Bertman not be on it. he made college baseball in the sec a thing. it was nothing before him and Ron Polk. pat summit would definitely need to be considered. how many championships did she win? you have to have saban and bear Bryant. I guess if you have to have Rupp then its got to be 5 . I guess if anything its not possible to limit it to 4 people

Who did Knute Rockne and Bear Bryant call the greatest coach they knew?
Hint: He was never connected to LShitU

Saban, Berkman, Rupp, Summitt
If doing 4 biggest sports.

Saban, bear, rupp, that fourth spot probably has a lot of names that have a legit argument but I’d go outside the box and say Roy Kramer. I don’t think ppl have a true understanding of what his decision to add a conference championship game did for the sec. Before Kramer acc and big both paid more in conference distribution than sec. The arms race amongst sec teams backed by Kramers war coffer full of tv money led to sec domination of football and the rise of sec basketball.
