And im sure his entire family has received nasty dms from bama fans. Hes being compensated for how much harder it is to coach here not the other way around.
Lane will be treated by lsu fans the same if he doesnt win.
Washington fans would have eaten his shite.

Its not the same anymore Lunatik. When money entered the convo for these players it became less about ability and more about motivation. They all know they can leave and get paid somewhere else. Bama doesnt have an advantage anymore in that regard.

Alabama got worked by his agent.
Embarrassing performance by the UA lawyers.
I've never worked on a deal with Sexton in particular, but I've done deals with CAA agents before and I've never seen such ridiculous terms.
Either the UA attorneys are just bozos or Michigan's interest in KDB was very real (it's possible that both things are true

Im embarrassed and disgusted. The culture at Alabama has been set back 5 years minimum.
Saban was so damn good man... this sucks bad.
DeBoer sucks... that much is evident. This program has been set back years.

But he did run. And he was at a program that was seen as being able to win a title. Rather than stick it out he ran to what was seen as the most likely program to win a title.
Contrast that with say Curt Cignetti who likely could have gone to many programs after he took Indiana to the playoffs but instead stayed put, put in the work and finished the job.
Deboer is putting in all the work required to make the most storied program in football mid tier.

I'm sure they kicked the tires but he doesn't seem to fit the offensive style they like.
At any rate, at some point, you have to call his bluff. Michigan isn't a better job so if he wants that, let him go. It isn't like he's exactly set the world on fire at Alabama.
I said the same of BK, he was solid to good his first few years, but there was no reason to give him an extension if he started threatening us with another job.

There’s more to it than that now. When an Indiana can buy a roster of kids chasing a bag and go 16-0, it’s a different world. Even though they were #2 this cycle, Alabama’s chokehold on recruiting is not the same as it used to be. All teams have a chance if they spend the money.

That's not realistic in the current landscape.
You let him go at that point in the coaching carousel and who do you bring in? You're probably left with elevating Wommack to HC to try and hold some of the roster together.
Otherwise, if you bring in someone from outside the program, the whole roster blows up and we're left with a 2-3 year rebuilding project since Bama doesn't have the NIL funds to reload in year 1.

i’m almost 100% certain that Bama’s CFP roster cost them significantly more than Indiana’s did

It’s ok to not want your coach and be disappointed he got extended. There’s no need to lie about it.

So, he chose the wrong players? If you give a player the same amount of money and his choices are Washington, Indiana or Alabama, where are 95% of those players going to choose?

Cignetti is a good coach but spending $15-20 million absolutely contributed to their run last year. They hadn’t done shite in their entire existence. The portal, NIL and revenue sharing comes along and boom.

Lane did take a harder path
He probably could’ve gotten a statue at Ole Miss and now he’ll probably be fired from LSU within 5 years

I doubt they spent that. It wasn't like they bought a lot of great players, their portal class was like #25.

It has been fun watching LSU fans pivot from “it’s not our money, so what that LSU is paying $13 million a year” to “OMG, Alabama is so stupid - they are screwed”. Such incredible flexibility.

Based on results they clearly had the #1 class. The recruiting services have not figured out how to evaluate transfers. They proclaimed LSU to have the #1 ranked class last year. That also was clearly wrong.
Currently, transfer portal rankings are a joke. Just because someone weighs something does not mean the scale was correct. That is why scales have to be calibrated and certified.
