You are looking at the result not the work. Think of the Volatility at Bama after Saban left. Our best two players the past two seasons were Washington transfers he already coached.
He basically had to rebuild the program to fit his coaching scheme and style.
Saban said there were 40 players that entered his office wanting raises. Thats why Saban dipped. Players here on our roster would full of shite and thinking they were owed more.
College football isnt the same anymore. Sure if DeBoer can get all the talent to buy in it will be "easier", but Ole Miss can buy a roster now and win and guess what... why do you think they were winning now? Hmmmmmmm thats why they never won before.

Bama fans spent years telling everyone the program was a machine and wouldn’t skip a beat post-Saban, that it was basically a plug and play situation. Now it’s the toughest job in the country and they’re trending up with a guy who is 20-8 after inheriting a Ferrari

Well, no shite. That is what the coaches are going to the bigger school for. That is why they leave Washington and go to Bama.
Again, you are looking at this wrong. You are looking at it from a fan's standpoint about pressure and this and that. Good coaches aren't looking at it that way. They thrive on the pressure. They crave it like a crackhead junkie. They get off on this shite. They want to win as many games as possible and win as many championships as possible.
Let me approach it this way, why do coaches leave UCF and go to Tennessee? Why do coaches leave USF and go to the SEC?

DeBoer certainly seems to think Alabama's resources make his job easier:
quote:
"When you have resources like we have here in Alabama, it makes my job easier. I’m looking forward to utilizing and showing off these resources to those that want to be wearing the Crimson," DeBoer said.

For $12.5 million per year....even I would put up with you insufferable idiots.

It isn't a difficult concept. It seems like some may be having some conflicting feelings over the extension and are trying to justify it and I understand that completely.

So its about the money not winning a title?
I think winning a title now will be harder to do until all coaches learn how to handle the money side of things.
Florida just hired my cousin back to handle their player financial stuff. They are having to hire people to work this stuff like it's the NFL. Hes got NFL experience with the Jaguars and has been with UCF, Tennessee, Etc.

I said im supporting DeBoer and yet you are trying to convince me Im mad about the extension.
Are yall actually delusional?
Some fans who dont understand the current landscape of college football are upset, but they are still thinking about the old college football as you are.
Yes, ill agree its easier if he recruits guys who buy into what hes doing here. Saban left because a large majority of our guys were coming here because of the money and what we could do for them, not because they wanted to win a natty for Bama.
Before money entered the chat, how many 5 star starters were leaving?
Theres no punishment for players who leave any more, and in fact theres usually a reward for them to leave. If a starter leaves its usually cause they got MORE money.
We are in a world in college football where leaving your current school is usually beneficial to you now.
Saban was basically forcing dudes to transfer to make room for better players. Now some rich guy in Ohio can buy Caleb Downs from us.

You're arguing that a job like Alabama is harder and a mid-tier can win championships now.
Why do you think DeBoer came to Bama?

Yes, it's all about the money.
Coaches don't coach "for the love of the game". NIL hit the coaching ranks long before it hit the players.

How many natties did Indiana have before this year? Ill wait.
How many times has Ole Miss ever been in national title talks?
If Saban came back to college football right now but coached at Boise State or Washington you dont think they'd come out of the woodwork to throw money at him to buy a roster? Indiana had a much higher NIL team than you think. Their headcoach as much as said so. They just bought Aiden Sherrell from us in basketball and they havent been relevant in ball for a LONG time.
All you have to have is a coach good enough to convince your fanbase to fork out the money. Ole Miss had it for a few seasons, and if Golding continues to win they will keep doing it.
LSU is only in the position they are in because they were willing to throw money for Lane. Thats the funny part about all of this is that yall arent even realizing that the NIL era helped LSU pull themselves from the slums.
You would be middle of the pack in the SEC if not for it. See your previous coaches performance.

Again, why did DeBoer come to Alabama if a mid-tier is an easier job and he can win a natty there?
You keep avoiding this question.

I never said the word mad once. I said conflicting feelings. It's a huge gamble for Bama to take. That is a lot of money to commit to and 7 years is a long time. From what I can tell, most Bama fans are not convinced that he is the guy. So, I can see where there would be a LOT of apprehension.

If each one of those players had a chance to go to Alabama instead, how many would have taken that oppurtunity? Just because DeBoer didn't have those players doesn't mean that he didn't have the oppurtuntiy to get them.

I never said Alabama wasnt a better job. I infact adressed this on the first page.
Alabama is an upgrade over Washingon in every way. DeBoer could have built a program at Washington if he wanted to, but he had the balls to follow the goat.
Also keep in mind that Oregon and Washington weren't in the Big 10 yet.
It being harder at Bama isnt just about the talent. You are walking into a place that expects you to take a roster built for an entirely different coaching staff to the natty immediately.
His coaching style of being a players coach is also completely different than Sabans personality. Saban was here for nearly 20 years. I dont expect LSU fans to understand that considering the volatility you guys have had at the coaching position for a while now.
Literally EVERYTHING that we did under Saban had to change. 20 years of the same thing to a completely different staff. Be for real.

Cignetti had 12 or 13 of his guys from JMU who knew he could win and weren't expecting to be paid.
In fact I bet they got a massive pay raise from JMU to Indiana.
LSU fans are about to see what happens when a top coach comes to a storied university. You are about to understand how hard it is for the coach to keep the Divas under control.
Just ask UGA what happened after Smart won 2 natties. How many arrest have they had now?

I am not. There are more layers to coaching than just winning a football game with talent and how much money you make.
It may be easier to lure talent here, but in the current landscape of college football talent doesn't always equal success anymore. Which is why Indiana just won a natty, and why Ole Miss had a better chance than they've ever had.
Before if a player wanted to transfer they had to sit out a year. It was detrimental to a player to commit to Bama then leave under most circumstances.
Now they can use Bama on their resume and draw a bigger paycheck somewhere else.

I doubt they spent that. It wasn't like they bought a lot of great players, their portal class was like #25.
Cignetti: Indiana spent $15 million.
