Where, exactly, in Saban's comments did he ever say illegally paid for their class? I'll wait.

Saban took the high road. Everyone still knows the truth.
Except Saban. He said there is nothing inherently illegal about booster run collectives.
Shame he didn’t run that by you first.

This. This is the ONLY reason he apologized.
Yea right, Jimbo isn't going to go out and start talking about how "we cheated when I was the OC and major recruiter at LSU and here is what we did", indicting himself, Saban, Muschamp, Mel Tucker, Kirby, etc? Come on, there is zero chance in hell that is happening.
He apologized because he slipped up, knew he did, wanted to make this as small a story as possible and didn't want some 3 month back and forth on it. Period.

This wasn't against the rules at the time.

Well, you see Timmy, when a person "buys" something, they pay money for it, and then they get it.

He didn't have to clarify any of that. His comments yesterday were pretty clear to anyone with a moderate grasp of the English language.

He wants the back and forth about who buys recruits to go away with a quickness. We all on here say everyone cheats and pays recruits, because they do. Saban insinuating aTm did but Alabama has never done that is why he wants it shut down.
Jimbo openly called Saban and his entire program dirty and encouraged reporters to go find the dirt. Saban broke the cardinal rule and called someone out for doing exactly what he, and literally everyone else, has done.

"Saban took the high road"? By saying, on tv, that "A&M bought every player" and then claiming the next day that what he said is being misinterpreted ? Little Nicky put his foot in his mouth & is not used to the national press jumping on him.

A&M 100% did that, and, in my opinion, it wasn't against the rules or illegal at the time.

I guess that's why the Bammers are having such a hard time with it.

Yep, and in 2002 that would be blatantly illegal and there would be no other way to interpret it than "they are cheating".
In 2022 it is very much a gray area depending on who did the paying, what kind of payment was promised, when it was promised, what it was promised for, etc etc.

Jimbo really said that Saban and the programs he worked with him at were dirty and everybody knows it, which is of course a strange thing to say when you yourself were a part of that operation and a key recruiter in said operation.

Saban broke the cardinal rule
Yes he did, which is what I said. He never should have specifically said anybody or any program, and that's why he quickly apologized for it. He fricked up.

I'd be working under the assumption that nobody could look at the NIL/$ data from Gibbs and Burton and see any noticeable new agreements/changes to their NIL packages from their prior school to their time at Alabama.
If there was a big jump, would be a pretty stupid thing for Saban to say.

I think they did. Pretty big recruits and players if I’m remembering correctly
