Except Saban. He said there is nothing inherently illegal about booster run collectives.

Shame he didn’t run that by you first.

Illegal according to state laws is not the same as against NCAA rules.

I thought that was made decently clear in the NCAA release.

But King Saban said Bama doesn’t buy players.

Jimbo really said that Saban and the programs he worked with him at were dirty and everybody knows it, which is of course a strange thing to say when you yourself were a part of that operation and a key recruiter in said operation.

Which is why Jimbo didn’t want to go into specifics. But we all know what both of them have been doing.....except for the Bama fans on here that have told me for years that Saban is clean as a whistle. Yeah, I remember

No Sparky

Jimbo is calling out the biggest cheater in the history of amateur sports...

you know, the one that mentored your coach trying to outcheat the other little midget

I'd be working under the assumption that nobody could look at the NIL/$ data from Gibbs and Burton and see any noticeable new agreements/changes to their NIL packages from their prior school to their time at Alabama

Seriously, Clark?

Supply/demand and making the opponent weaker at the same time would drive up what would be spent.

Im not saying that burton was looking to stay. But Burton's team (i.e. agents) would be foolish to take a comparable deal to what they had in Athens considering what Bama needs/gains in the relationship.

And as for Gibbs and GT? You honestly think Bama is matching what Georgia Tech is offering NIL and not offering more? You forgot what conference Bama is in.

I think Saban operates/operated in the same general realm as every other major college program in terms of recruiting with "other stuff" over the last 2 decades.

Saban never just runs his mouth, it was very much planned. He just didn't expect this response from the media. A sign that things are changing.

In 2022 it is very much a gray area depending on who did the paying, what kind of payment was promised, when it was promised, what it was promised for, etc etc.

"I mean we were second in recruting last year. A&M was first. A&M bought every player on their team."

See post above about how buying things works. You give the money, then you get the item.

Buying a recruting class is 100% illegal even under NIL rules.

Clown world that so many folks in CFB are STILL being drawn offsides by some anonymous message board jackass in Oklahoma.

Yes, seriously.

I think Burton fit a football need specifically and was sold on our history with throwing the football, wide receiver draftablity and his role in an offense with a heisman winning QB. I'm sure he got some sort of NIL stuff, but I do not believe he transfered to Alabama for "NIL deals" at all.

Um, Gibbs transferred to Alabama to blow up on the national scene, win a bunch of games and be a 1st round pick as opposed to getting his body destroyed at Georgia Tech for 12 games, go 2-10 and average 4.0 YPA while getting hurt 2-3 times. He was recruited by our staff originally (just like Burton), had a very good comfort level and wanted to play somewhere where he could show off his entire skillset.

So yea, I'd be shocked if Burton or Gibbs came to Alabama because of money/NIL. They came to play at Alabama for 1 season, have big years like those before them have and reap those benefits in the NFL Draft in 2023. They were probably promised similar NIL deals to whatever they had before, but in no way do I think they were enticed to transfer before of money or NIL.

If we are talking about what Jimbo said then I don't believe him, to be frank. I think he was pissed and emotional and talking like pissed and emotional people do when they lose control.

And it is what he said. He never said Saban was operating at some level above and beyond everybody else, he insinuated he didn't have glass windows because he was cheating too.

Previously, you said he didnt get more than what he had in Athens.
That... is not a smart asumption.

He had motive to leave. I never dispute that. But dont be naive about what is going into his bank account.

You said that they didnt get more than their previous stops.

At Tech, Gibbs got a Waffle House value card where he gets a free side of hash browns after 10 visits. I promise you he is getting close to 100+ times more than what GT was laying on the table.

Yes, absolutely serious. We're didn't even have a collective set up until like 3 months ago. We are well behind on the booster NIL stuff.

I'm sorry, you think that "come here and be a 1st round pick 12 months from now" wasn't a selling point that stuck with 2 guys who almost came to Alabama in the first place? One of which was getting his body beat to shite on the Flats at Tech?

Saban and Alabama cheat. So does LSU

The only thing embarrassing over the past 24 hours was Saban claiming he is above it all. It’s a petty look for anyone with respect

But he apologized today and admitted fault. Move on

I believe you were the 3rd or 4th SEC school to setup a collective. Not too far behind….

Those guys didn't come to Alabama because they wanted a bunch of money for 12 months from a NIL deal. If that was their goal, they would have gone other places that have and are giving away much more in NIL compensation.

They came here for the NFL draft.

Boutte’s posse has admitted to being shopped by Bama, and didn’t comeback to lsu untill our sleazy billboard attorney ponied up to get him back. Your hands have blood on them too
