I guess my thought process is imagine what could be done with 7.2 million per year in Alabama? Hire more teachers, better equip schools, and access to rural health care immediately come to mind. It wouldn't solve the issues completely but would be a good start

If it was coming from taxpayers I agree 100%. But since it is private revenue I have no problem.

At some point our society decided to place more emphasis on throwing a ball or calling plays from the sideline than on teaching a child to read or rescuing someone from a burning house

It's so irritating when people say this kind of stuff. More people are capable of being fire fighter or being teachers than are capable of being a great quarterback. It is what it is. Same reason psychology majors have tough times finding jobs after graduating when compared to STEM majors. Don't blame society.

Because any knucklehead from a liberal arts degree with a teaching certificate can be a teacher. There's only a handful of men IN THE WORLD can do what Drew Brees can.

It is kind of funny to hear fans say guys like Saban and Brees are worth their pay or are underpaid but then complain about being priced out of games.

Saban should be the highest paid coach in football (college or NFL).

You mean stand behind max protect and wait until your WR/TE scratches and claws his way open to catch the ball . . . Oh but that's only after a Mark Ingram scramble for a loss of 2

Same with coaches. I would like to see what happens if Alabama refused to pay Saban? You're the greatest football program of all time, right? Tell Saban and Sexton to go frick themselves and let the cards fall where they may.

You will not hear a thing out of me or anyone that understands a cost/benefit ratio.

One of the poorest states in the country with the lowest number of college graduates but Yea!!! Let's pay our College Football Coach 7.2 million per year

All the more reason to pay him more. Football revenues are recycled through athletic departments and then returned to the schools themselves. The schools then work to better the states they're in.

So, if a school like Alabama is seeing record football revenues (which inevitably make their way back to the school), why would investing more money in such a process be anything but good?

So to you Drew Brees = Nick Saban?

Hate to break it to you but Saban will never compare to Brees. Brees actually beats Pros.

Saban isn't going any where. Texas isn't going to offer him more than bama will match. Even if Tex offers 10mill/ year, bama can match that easily.
