I just hope that people realize that Mack Brown's contract was just extended to 2020, and if he wins the BIG XII this year (which is possible) he'll only leave on his own terms.

Football helps keep the money flowing at the schools, like it or not, which leads to better facilities for the whole student body. Without football, UA/AU might be like the Mississippi schools academically.

Kinda a silly argument since almost all of his salary is probably paid by donations to bama athletics.

Well not only that, football contributes to academics in the long run far more than academics contribute to football.

Alabama's athletic department brought in $67.7 million in revenue and had a $7.1 million surplus the year before his arrival, according to figures compiled by USA Today. Last fiscal year, Alabama's athletic revenue was $124.5 million and its profit was $19.4 million.

Football alone produced $82 million in revenue and had a profit of $45.1 million.

The only college football programs with greater revenue than Alabama during the last fiscal year were Texas ($103.8 million) and Michigan ($85.2 million).

You're right - Mack contract runs to 2020, but there is one caveat - his buyout is a measly 2.5 mil. But even that won't be necessary - he will announce resignation within a month and a half.

Their balance sheet suggests he's worth even more.

Wish I could place the following words into Allen Iverson's tirade about practice

For a football coach? Come on man what we talking about? A football coach. A football coach we should be talking about a profession that saves lives but we talking about a football coach? A football coach? Come on a football coach?

Beats the hell out of paying almost as much to NOT win games, like so many of our rivals do.

Pretty good response to all of the above because for all of the talk about football contributing to academics when was the last time tuition wasn't raised?

At least at this point, we're paying someone to do a job, rather than not do a job.

Chizik and his former staff will collect a buyout of more than $11 million over four years.

This guy gets it. Sexton is just doing his job. Any client with a good record is getting a big raise because Sexton is the best in the business.

So I guess you guys are done paying Mike Shula, Mike Price, and Mike Dubose?
