If you wanna compete with Alabama, you have to spray your football field with antler spray and contaminate Alabama's Gatorade with the Updyke elixir.

Only in rare situations as we had in 2011, where Bama got in due to losing to the #1 team in overtime by the slimmest of margins, will the SEC get a second team in the playoffs.

Due to political pressure from the U.S. Congress, non-BCS schools will be included in the 4-team playoffs. That leaves very little room for a second team from the SEC.

I posted this in another thread, but I'll post it in this one as well:

I'll have to disagree with you. I would be shocked if there isn't two SEC teams in the playoffs more years than not going forward.

I think both UF & Bama would've gotten in the playoffs in 2008 & 2009, LSU & Bama in 2011, and Bama & UF last year. And I think that trend will continue going forward for the foreseeable future. Now there will be years were only one SEC team gets in, but that will be the exception and not the norm.

It won't be long until the top 4 conferenes either move up to a separate division within the NCAA, or break away completely from the NCAA. But even if that doesn't happen any time soon, the non-BCS teams will still have a chane on getting in despite two SEC teams getting in. In 2008, Utah would've probably made it. As would've either TCU, Cincy, or both in 2009.

He himself admitted that he learned a lot about coaching / interacting with players at Miami. I think he matured and toned down post Miami. Players absolutely hated him while at LSU.
I agree with this. I think he improved his "people" skills over time and also learned invaluable skills on how to operate an NFL team.

The lessons Saban learned in his previous stops has been instrumental to the operations at Alabama and I am happy as a clam.

Bama told Saban you have zero risk going to the NFL because we will be your safety net.

LSU is on the cutting edge and Bama is a safety net.

He saw LSU as a stepping stone to the NFL- now that he realizes he can't succeed at that level he has devoted his full attention to coaching
I think he's devoted his full attention to "managing" his program. He is heavily involved in the administration and operation of his program.

He hires solid coaches that are taught how to do things Saban's way. Those coaches do their fricking jobs. They evaluate, teach, train, and develop the talent that they ALL bring into the program.

Saban is OCD, a micromanager that thrives on his processes, systems, plans, blueprints, etc. to get the most out of his staff and players.

This is just simply not the case. The players really liked Saban.

Please educate yourself on either what the word perennial means, or TAM's all-time record compared to real perennial powers like Tennessee, UGA, and Auburn.
Talking about the present day landscape of college football, the SEC has become the undisputed dominate power in football only since Florida started it off in 2006 by dismantling my previously undefeated Ohio St. Buckeyes 41-14.

That is only 7 years. So, let’s drop ancient history with the likes of Tennessee, which has been reduced to an SEC doormat since its last SEC championship.

In today's college football landscape, you first need a powerful recruiting program with a rich recruiting base. Then a strong coaching staff, and finally, you need a willing school administration to finance great facilities for a big time football program.

My hunch is that TAM has all of those attributes, but needed to join the SEC and have a great college QB fall into their laps to transform from being UT's weak sister into a golden swan and the pride of the Lone Star State.

Obviously, last year is only one year, but I think a sleeping giant has finally woken up into a present day perennial football power.

TAM is not dominating just yet, but give them a few years, and they will become a perennial SEC power.

You only have to take your eyes off the rear view mirror to see it.

I think the switch from the 4-3 to the 3-4 as his base defense improved his defensive scheme. He loved to blitz at LSU but with four down linemen and another one or two blitzers, we would get burned for big plays more often than Bama does with only 3 down linemen.

Why has Saban been more successful at Bama? Or why was he less successful at LSU?

I think this will answer the question. BAMA CHEATS

It's not that Saban doesn't have people skills. It's that he gets pissed off having to answer the media's questions.

When I was at LSU, I had to do an argumentative paper and I chose BCS vs a playoff (this was in 2001). I called Nick Saban to use him as a source and explained to his secretary what I was doing. He called me back and was as nice as could be. He had people skills back then. He was a lot more friendly than some of the engineers I talk to on the phone. :CSB:

The "process" has been perfected. And the Bama brand helps build a program as well. The man is on a roll right now and there's no reason to think it will decline anytime soon.

So that makes the article false? Did bama all of a sudden stop being the most crooked program in the nation after 2007?

The "Process" indeed appears to be running with precision.

Like Spurrier said...it's harder to win SEC titles than national titles. Just ask Saban.

Yeah, Auburn definitely has the evidence to back Spurrier's statement up.
