He won 1 national title and 2 10 win seasons in 5 years at LSU! He has won 3 national titles and 5 10 win seasons in 6 years at Bama!

When he got to BAMA he had less of a rebuilding process to go through and it was easier to recruit at first. Saban had to go through a couple of years gaining prominence for himself and LSU and once he did he recruited top classes in 03 and 04. He left in 04 so those classes never materialized under his tenure, but Les got them. Had he stayed he would've had almost identical results of what we're seeing at BAMA right now. Probably 4 more national championships to go along with 03.

Alabama wasnt the top ranked team when monroe beat them.......

And then the next year he led mich state to a 9-2 season with wins over Penn state, ND, Ohio state, and Michigan. You need to expand your knowledge of college football if you truly think no one knew about saban before he got to LSU

If you think more than 10 percent of the fanbase or recruits from Louisiana to Alabama knew who Saban was, you are delusional.

Not sure about the rebuilding process,,, I believe out talent level was about the same as LSU's for Saban's initial year at both programs. He went 8-4 his first year at LSU and 7-5 at bama.
I will not disagree with the rest of your reply.

I actually thought about that one, but he won a national title in the 3rd year for each program.

Good point.

I don't have data for LSU recruiting in the late 90s but I do know Shula consistently recruited top 15-20. LSU was 3-8 and 4-7 the two years before Saban and Alabama was 6-6 and 10-2. Not really comparable. Also, you said LSU and BAMA both won in year 3 of Sabans tenure. That is false. LSU won in his 4th year. So I stick with my argument saying his rebuilding process at LSU was much more difficult.

When he came to LSU he was nick saban

When he came to bama he was NICK SABAN.

It's as simple as that. Had he stayed he'd be winning at LSU more than he is at bama as LSU has more natural, built in advantages and better home field advantage.

I stand corrected!

I think that may have been Coaching... How else would you explain the 8-4 in 2000 by LSU and 7-6 in 2007 by Bama?

Fair point. But at that time you have to remember the SEC wasn't as tough.

To be fair, that is near impossible.

The only thing I knew about saban we he arrived in BR was that LSU (Dinardo) beat Michigan St (saban) soundly in the Independece Bowl when both were in their first season at each school.
