Cincinnati is a huge step up from Red Stick, is he holding out for even better digs?

Joe has told the local media, and a few ESPN talking heads, numerous times that growing up he was a fan of the Saints' Drew Brees & Reggie Bush. Not that is an indication of anything at this point in time but he is not and has not been a die hard Bengals fan. No clue as to where he ends up but at 23 yrs old, he needs to start playing asap. Can't see the XFL as another option as he would lose millions & millions of dollars in salary & endorsements. And with his Masters Degree in hand, he has proven to be no dummy.

He said he cheered for the Saints.
If he didn't grow up a Bengals or Browns fan, then he likely grew up a fan of the Cowboys.

This just isn't true. Cleveland has 100% of the QB killer rep. Its so bad I can understand you thinking it should be laid at the feet of two teams, but Cincinnati is totally ordinary. Nobody blames Dalton's mediocrity on the Bengal organization.
they were extraordinarily bad this year because the defense was trash and Dalton didn't have AJ green the entire year. Cincinnati went to the playoffs 5 straight years with dalton from 2011-2015. sure they went 0-5, but I dont see how you equate that with Cleveland. Since 2010 Cincy is 77-81-2; Cleveland is 42-117-1. The only franchise you should compare to Cleveland is Detroit.

I think Tuesday is media day. He’s going to peppered with the Cincy speculation. I’m sure his advisors have prepared him how to respond.
His advisors appear to have failed him thus far.

I agree People act like the Bengals are hopeless in reality the spent about 15 years in the good not great catagory.
They won 12 games with Andy Dalton as their QB.

I mean I will say again that just because a franchise is bad now doesn't mean it will be in 3-5 years.
LA Rams
SF 49ers
You can also go the other way, where teams are good now but aren't 2-3 years later
Atlanta
Carolina
Pittsburgh
It happens both ways.
Hell Cinci won 10+ games every year from 2012-2015.

He knows he will have a very average career unless he plays on a very good team. I don't blame him.

Duh pull an Eli and refuse to sign.
All while Phillip Rivers is begging to get away from the Chargers and has no rings

From Les Nessman
quote:
WKRP, Cincinnati - I have spoken with Joe Burroughs and he has informed WKRP that he has "some hesitations" with coming to Cincinnati. His primary concern is an incident that occurred during a radio stunt here several years back. He says he can't risk a concussion from being hit by a wayward falling turkey.

this story is media fabricated garbage. Nothing Joe has said actually indicates he doesn't want to go to Cincy.
Yep.

I don't get the extreme Cinci hate. Until a few years ago they were one of the most consistent playoff caliber teams. Carson Palmer had a solid career there. The organization somehow made Andy Dalton look like an NFL caliber QB with its extreme loyalty to him. It's not an elite media market but neither are half of the NFL teams. Peyton Manning built an highly marketable national brand in basketball crazed Indianapolis of all places. I just don't really get what makes Cinci any worse than 60% of NFL teams? The tradition rich, huge market teams with playoff caliber rosters don't get to draft in the top 10.

Joe's grandad played basketball at State. He's got southern ties so not surprising that he likes the Saints. Ohio teams suck

If Joe Burrow somehow ended up in New Orleans and won a Superbowl, he could run for Governor of Louisiana and win in a landslide without ever opening his mouth.

Cincinnatians don't want to be in Cincinnati.

The old AFL wasn't going anywhere until they threw the bank at Broadway Joe in 1964. Maybe the XFL should follow that model, pony up on another Joe....see what happens.
