They did not get it right.

Yeah, Michigan probably should have gotten in.
The final four is a huge deal in college basketball granted, but actually winning a national title is so far and away more validating than anything else, I really think you are badly undervaluing it.

Title - 25
Runner up - 11
Final Four - 8
Elite 8 - 4
Sweet Sixteen - 2
Round of 32 - 1
invited to the tournament - 0

losing the tournament opener is as unpleasant as missing the tournament. All you want to do is forget about the year.

That's the only reason people get annoyed with Alabama fans.

you had me right up until this line. this is patently false. there are so many reasons.

FSU’s SOS was 55th in the country

What is Alabama's SOS if you exclude home vs UT?

SOS is a stupid arse metric to point to when comparing a different win loss record.

FSU Strength of Record is #3
Alabama Strength of Record is #4
Texas Strength of Record is #5

Should be H2H > SoR

But apparently H2H > Name Brand > SoR

SEC is now the only healthy conference that makes any sense geographically. ATLANTIC CC nearly added Stanford and Cal. can you imagine?

LOL this is as bad as blaming handguns for murders. Did Miller pull the trigger or plan it you fricking idiot

LINK

quote:

"There had been a dispute earlier between the parties that centered on Harris (the female victim) not being interested in talking with Davis, who allegedly told officers he was so drunk on tequila that he doesn’t recall a thing."

quote:

"When Miller arrived, Miles and Davis got in his car, according to testimony. It was there that Miles took the gun and then handed it to Davis, telling him, "There’s one in the head,” a reference, police testified, to a bullet being in the chamber."

quote:

"With the gun in his hand, Davis walked up and “began firing through the driver’s side window of the Jeep,”

ok all you self proclaimed lawyers, explain to me how someone can hand a loaded gun to a guy who is black out drunk, who immediately uses said gun to initiate a violent confrontation which resulted in death, is not in violation of any law.

Is this an argument for making the Cinderella team hold the #4 spot next season if not from the Big 10 or the SEC?

are we making a tv show or are we playing a sport with more than just lip service paid equal treatment? TCU got smoked by Georgia. They also very obviously deserved to be ranked above Ohio st based on what they had done on the field up to that point. Your question acts like the TCU-Michigan and the Michigan-Ohio St games didn't happen.

If you want something to blame, blame Ohio St for apparently choking majorly at home vs Michigan. Or perhaps Georgia playing tight in the semifinal. There's so many different ways to spin what happened, but "TCU didn't belong in the playoff." is only valid if your position is "there didn't need to be anyone in the playoff at all and Georgia should have been awarded the national championship trophy after the SECCG."

stetson invited to new york is absolutely a lifetime achievement award and he is in no way in the actual running for the heisman.
Things that need to happen for LSU to be in the playoff:
LSU win out
USC loses again
Clemson loses ACCCG
TCU loses B12CG, probably badly required

Things that aren't going to happen but would also help but they aren't going to happen:
Tennessee losing to South Carolina or Vanderbilt
Michigan or Ohio St losing to Illinois or Maryland, respectively.
Winner of Ohio st Michigan losing B10CG

If LSU wins out, and if Clemson, and USC and TCU all spill the beans, which is *possible* Here are the committee playoff options:

Undefeated B10 champion (in, obviously)

3 spots for these 4 teams:

11-1 B10 team whose only loss is to only undefeated team left in the country

or

12-1 Georgia

or

11-1 Tennessee

or

11-2 LSU

ONE OF THESE THINGS ISNT LIKE THE OTHERS.

The only way to ensure no SEC team has homefield advantage for the championship game is to host it every year at Dudley field and that place only has 40k seats.

I am not a lsu fan

that doesn't make you unbiased. beating Georgia this season does not make you a national champion unless the game is in January.
enjoy your moment while you can, LSU gonna get pounded into the Citrus Bowl vs Penn St.
LSU has two losses and one of them is to Tennessee.

Beating the team that beat the team that you lost to does not make you better than the team you lost to. EVER.
considering the LSU population on the board the obvious answer is

LSU Wins out and remains at 6 in the final poll behind Tennessee and the loser of the Michigan-Ohio St.

Where they belong.
quote:

You can say that if you like, but the committee has LSU slotted perfectly to jump Tennessee, as of now.

Being next numerically in a poll does not mean the teams are close, it means there's no one in between them. that isn't the same thing. Not only would a 2 loss LSU not have a strong argument against Tennessee, they wouldn't have a strong argument against the loser of the Ohio St-Michigan game either.

Georgia is going to beat the breaks off LSU so this argument doesn't really need to be solved, but the idea that people think LSU is better positioned than Tennessee to make the playoff is so laughably absurd that it reveals to the rest of us that the people who believe it do not understand the sport they love.

Georgia (1st) in East - 0 SEC losses
LSU (1st) in West - 1 SEC loss

Alabama - 2 SEC losses
Ole Miss - 2 SEC losses

I'm curious how you define the word "division" in this context.
quote:

Lsu losing to Tennessee at the halfway point of the season will not outweigh a 2-loss SEC champion who beat 3 top 7 teams in the last 5 games of their season. Period.

you can pretend the florida state loss didnt happen, and a quality win over a mutual opponent somehow trumps an actual head to head beat down, but the committee will not.

it was a brilliant defensive gameplan to lull Georgia into conservative play calling by not threatening them with a loss. credit where credit is due.
