Dragging it out will not bode well for the rest of the B12… who wants that hanging over the conference.

I hope so. I’ve thought we’d be in next year. I’m hopeful we can make it happen

If a couple more teams decide to leave with them then there is NO exit fee. Maybe two teams to another conference?

i suspect espn will be paying for part or all, though it will be on the down low

that longhorn network contract runs thru 2031, espn owes them est 9 years x $15M, or around $135M

deals done been discussed for 2022

This isn't news and the Big12 exit fee will be handled through the restructuring of the SEC's ESPN deal as well as Texas' bi-lateral re: Longhorn Network

There is no exit fee for the GOR. How are they going to handle that? SEC just won't get a cut of their games?

There's no such thing as "cleaning up COVID shyte". Governments can't stop viruses, and there will never be a "zero COVID" situation.

That's why these rumors are BS. There is an exit fee under the Big XII bylaws which applies any time you leave the conference, but which has no teeth when it comes to the Texas schools as sovereign immunity effectively bars enforcement through the courts. However, the grant of rights is a real barrier, and it's hard to see a school leaving early without their media rights. The Big XII has no reason to take a low ball payment from OU/Texas to leave early as Fox would undoubtedly void their contract with the Big XII if they did so. OU/Texas will have to pay the left behind 8 enough to make up for that loss, which won't be cheap, or else there is no incentive for the left behind 8 to cut them loose early.

Is this a surprise? I think we all know they will play in the SEC next year.
