Well, there is a difference between a booster paying a kid to go to a school v. an agent giving a kid money to sign with his agency in terms of how the NCAA views it as it relates to gaining a competitive advantage.
What rocked USC so hard was the fact that agents were basically running all over campus and USC continually and "intentionally" turned a blind eye to it. If Alabama can show that it has been, and is doing everything in its power to educate athletes about agents and keep agents away from players, I think the NCAA goes light on the program itself. Saban is certainly not the poster child for having an agent friendly program. He hates their guts and publicly says so.

The only solution that will ever work is a reciprocity-clause between the NFL and the NCAA that says a player that receives inappropriate benefits as an amateur will be penalized @ the next level (NFL). To be able to feel no penalty after years of breaking the rules is bullshite.
Of course, what makes more sense is to give p[layers a stipend that allows them to live the college-life of every other kid in college. Jesus, I am so sick of this *look* at college athletics.
And FYI, *no*, women's basketball, track and field, badminton, tennis, etc are not the same as football. Football makes money (in the SEC). Run this like a for-profit venture and the issues go away.

This is bad. Sloppy. Agents with multiple players and these weren't even the best players. Big money that other players would have known about.
Realistically - Saban leaves, Bama gets probation, forfeits last years title. Season lost - they are marked as cheaters.
Tenn, MSU - they don't have but a couple prospects anyway - nobody will care. Bama bank rolling worst prospects. Saban's link to NCAA - will save them from Death Penalty.

IDK about UT. That program is operating on life support as it. The NCAA might be lenient on them. MSU well who wants to be the person who picks on the retarded kids? As for the probation was UA on it when these "events" took place? seriously when was Alabama's probation over?

I don't think any SEC schools will get in any more trouble with the NCAA. The NCAA is scared to punish big money producing schools because they know those schools don't need them but are merely remaining in the NCAA for image reasons.

And to clarify my point, pick a measure that makes sense. Average the 'free-money/mom & dad $' that the top 20% of students get at each individual institution and that should be what revenue-producing players get per month as a stipend across all of the individual NCAA football programs.
If the average 'bama upper-middle-class coed gets $2850 in support-benefits then that is what the players should get.
Anyway, these kids (at real football schools) are helping generate a shite-ton of $ but they are too busy with football obligations to work and make $. There has to a better way.

Agreed. Based on the information that's out there now, these people talking about coaches leaving or titles being vacated are living in a fantasy land. It'd be different if coaches or administrators were accused of wrong-doing by either taking part or simply knowing about the payments from the agents. I don't see any of the three schools getting into serious trouble. Tennessee has to be the most careful though, since Couch is still eligible and on their team. They can't play him until it's cleared up, which I'm sure is why he came down with "heat exhaustion" today and won't play Saturday, per Butch Jones.

This could go either way- no one has a clue how this is going to turn out, so it's foolish to say anything about it at this point. I'm inclined to think not much happens with this for a variety of reasons, but you just never know.

Damn you take the interwebs waaaaay to seriously. Come over and have a beer. In all honesty I have no Idea what is going to happen. I just find the timing of these 3 stories, JFF autograph, CLM OSU and this Bama piece , to be of suspect timing. OFC I am having a good laugh at all the doom-sayers.
