It is amazing how far away we are from the NCAA of the Antonio langham era

No kidding. If Charles Robinson had broken the Langham story back then, I would've been really worried and all he did was sign a napkin pledging to sign with a certain agent Just have a really hard time seeing anything worthwhile come from this.

The NCAA has no desire whatsoever to enfore any penalties other than the symbolic. Nothing major will come of any of this.

They went after JFF but because of lack of evidence had to slap his wrist and let it go.

I don't know too much about this yet, but it seems that they have evidence - bank records, etc. - if so, they will be REQUIRED to act. Also possibly involves player(s) currently on the Bama squad, and definitely involves players from last year's team - could spell trouble for their national championship(s).

I agree in principal with everything you just stated. Unfortunately it will never happen. TO much money the universities will lose with the Title IX and loss of NPO. couple that with only about the top 20ish college moneymakers even being able to support this will kill the proposition, IMO. I do think they should be more lenient with how much a student can earn though.
I would support having paychecks come through the university, i.e. if a student athelete has a job the checks are deposited in a university account held by the student, for immediate withdraw at the students discretion. Or have them work for the university at a set pay scale, open to all athletics, like a work/study/play program.

Other than Ed Stinson, I don't know see any current players mentioned at all. As for penalties, I don't see any real future penalties being the main concern given the fact that no university officials appear to be involved and the compliance department appears to have been proactive with Luther Davis. My biggest concern is avoiding the vacating of the 2012 title and maybe even the 2011 title. Unlike some Bama fans here, I see the vacating of the 2012 title as being a strong possibility. Some may say so what but.that's a pretty big deal and embarrassing to me.

I see it as a small possibility, but a terrible one. One of the things that is making this season special is the quest to be the first to win 3 in a row. If we have to vacate 2012, that is gone. I'd rather take a small scholly hit going forward than lose the possibility of being the first 3 peat ever

With all this my faith in this season is shaken. Some crimson-colored glasses wearing Bama fan show me the light please.

No spin at all. That's what I believe based on current information and given the circumstances.

You're right that is a very small, but also a terrible possibility. It is very small though because there was no competitive advantage gained, and to take such a drastic step like vacating a title they'd have to show that somebody within the Alabama program knew it was happening and let it go on. Doesn't really seem like something the NCAA in it's current state would be too interested in taking on either. They're hanging on by a thread as it is with the "amateurism" rules and the threat of the "big boys" of college football leaving the NCAA.

Whatever happens, Alabama will take it's punishment like a man. If our guys broke the rules and it's proven with no doubt then our team doesn't deserve to be the recorded champions. However, while the NCAA can take Bama's hardware, they can never take away the sheer joy we felt as fans after BAMA beat the hell out of Texas, LSU and Notre Dame. I'm already sick of this scandal. I am ready to watch Bama whip A&M's arse saturday.

I know. Btw, just got info in the last minute that Bama compliance was aware of the Fluker/Davis situation last December. Makes me feel better about the whole situation.

Exactly why I think while terrible, its still a very small possibility. The only other thing that worries me is that they dont seem to ever pull any punches with us. frick, we got hammered for fricking text books for christ's sake. Its almost like when Alabama is involved, you can damn near throw precedent out the door and just prepare your anus. I really think their hands are tied in this scenario though, especially since C-Rob has said he has no plans of sharing his findings or evidence with the NCAA.

This is what I have been talking about when I have been saying that Alabama turned Davis in to the NCAA a while back and disassociated with him.

So they have been withholding information and covering up?
