How far back in history do you want to travel? If only 8 yrs UFL>UT. 20 yrs UFL>UT. 50 yrs UFL>UT there was a period from 1899 until 1920 when UT>UFL but since then, not so much.
The last 50 yrs. the East ranks
UFL
UGA
UT

No, historically would be "in history". Like, since the football program started. If you're talking overall, all time football programs in all of history, it's:
1.UT
2.UGA
3.UF
4.UK
5.SC
6.Vandy
this is correct. Maybe you could argue UK/SC. Anybody that has UF over UGA historically probably was born after 1987.
I always considered UGA 3rd "historically" after Bama & Tenn. I wouldn't rank them 3rd currently in the last 20 years though.

I'm not sure how Florida could be ranked ahead of UGA historically. UGA has more wins, more bowl wins, more SEC titles, more consensus All-Americans (?), not to mention a winning record in the Cocktail party.
Also Hershel > Tebow
Also Hershel > Tebow

i used to joke but now i am starting to think football really did start in 1990

Championships/wins/bowls/series records since 1996 are the only ones that count .
Posted on 1/15/13 at 11:32 am to Damn Good Dawg

Here's some more food for thought, all time:

I don't see how anyone can look at all that and say UF is a better all time football program than UGA. Since 1990? Well yeah, duh. But all time? No.
You make some good points with the win %, but you're forgetting one important fact....UT has had 15 more seasons than UF, and UGA has had 16 (UF and UT did not field a team in 1943, UGA did). So (by average) UF has done more in less time than UGA.....period.

Well, the fact is that UT and UG did field teams those 15 or 16 years, so that would still make them better than UF during those seasons by default.

It's probably due to the age of most posters. Success over the last 20 years or so has a way of convincing people that they've been a perennial power since their inception. I agree they've closed the gap but I think it's UT, UGA, UF... though we're both closing the gap on UT every season. They're in reverse and we're on the Autobahn. Won't be long.
Exactly. Look at the success that Georgia had this season and Tennessee's failure. Over the past 10 seasons, Georgia has gained 20 games on UT's lead. At this rate, Georgia will pass UT in 20 years (gaining 20 games in 10 years with UT holding a 39 game lead).

Oh yes, the 1890s when teams played, what, 7 games at most? None of the seasons you're referring to had any major accomplishments by Georgia.

Yes.

Ranking the SEC East historically
1. Tennessee
Who is 2-7, in your opinion?
Since you included the word 'historically':
1. Tennessee
2. Georgia
3. Florida
4. Missouri (if we are including them)
5. South Carolina
6. Vanderbilt
7. Kentucky
Last quarter century:
Same as above except #'s 1,2 and 3 are flipped to #3, 2 and 1.

We can't help it that Florida did not have enough Yankees move down to start a football program until 16 years after the rest of the current SEC teams...

LOL, Atlanta is full of Yankees too.
Posted on 1/15/13 at 3:32 pm to roadGator
Atlanta is full of ex Floridians who got tired of hearing their neighbor tell them how much better they did things in New Jersey...

1. Florida
Sorry Vols fans, Florida has exploded since the '80s...they are the best SEC team in the last 30 years
#2 is a debate between Tennessee and Georgia
