I'm not sure how Florida could be ranked ahead of UGA historically. UGA has more wins, more bowl wins, more SEC titles, more consensus All-Americans (?), not to mention a winning record in the Cocktail party.

Also Hershel > Tebow

More titles and Heismans though.

I think it's gay how we have less titles but more SECC's. I think the rankings back in the day just hated UGA

Or maybe because y'all choke when you have the chance to play for one?

Agreed with TN, but Florida and Georgia have recently made their presence felt. South Carolina has been improving as well.

They mention 27, 46, and 68 in their media guide, but I'm pretty sure they only claim 42 and 80.

ya, we all know how competitive college football was in the 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s

I think Princeton has a ton of National Championships going back to 18-something...

I sort of weigh everything from the 80s+ more than everything else...its really the modern era of college football.

Florida has dominated the SEC in the modern era, period

I do. I believe the school only "officially" recognizes 42 and 80, but we also acknowledge 27,46, and 68 as well. My thought on the matter is, if essentially every other school in the country claims up then why shouldn't we.

In 1927, Georgia finished the season 9–1[3] and could stake a claim to the national championship by finishing #1 in at least one national poll.

Dooley’s 1968 team finished first in at least one national poll, giving Georgia a claim to the national championship in that year

1946 after finishing first in at least one national poll and/or rating system.

What was that quote from bear bryant, "if a laundromat in tuscaloosa wants to claim us the champion, we'll take it"? Something like that. If there was one poll (even some shitty no name poll based on math) that claimed us as #1, then I'll personally claim it seeing as everyone else would.

Hey, I know the rest of the SEC is suffering from Bama fatigue, but I was just wondering if you claimed them because I always remembered the two, not five. I don't give a shite how many anyone claims, it's a retarded system.

Football was competitive pre 1980s. It is just that some schools who were good then, no longer are and vice versa. Sure, Princeton was good as was Army... But so was Bama, Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas, and UGA...
It is sad that so few seem to have an understanding of our past these days....

Y'all wouldn't have room to talk if the school did claim 46 and 68.

Well part of EvilVodka's problem is that he seems to be dumb, so there's that too.
