re: Ranking every SEC program’s current situation

1. Georgia: unless Kirby gets bored, they will be a championship contender for many years to come. Wealthy program, fertile recruiting grounds, excellent support, the best program so far this decade.

2. Alabama: same as above except Saban is getting old and won't keep going for that much longer. That leaves at least some questions marks. Elite programs that make bad coaching hires can collapse. (See: Tennessee, Florida).

3. Texas: same as above but with arguably even more resources. We will see if Sark has staying power. We've seen how royally Texas can frick things up for themselves over the past decade.

4. Oklahoma: Oklahoma is never truly down, and I think they have a solid coach. The recruiting is still there, the fan support is there, and having Texas move with them means they will continue to raid the state for blue chip recruits.

5. LSU: I am not convinced Coach Kelly can take them to the promised land. He's a good coach, but I really don't think he was the best option for the Tigers. Regardless, LSU will always have elite recruiting and fan support and they were a couple defensive players away from a very special season.

6. Tennessee: Heupel is a good coach and Tennessee has a ton of resources. I think we'll see a return to last season's form next year.

7. Mizzou: Coach Drink has Mizzou humming. He doesn't appear to be on anyone's radar to be poached away and has his players believing. His recruiting has been elite and the team should be excellent again next season with many key starters returning. I disagree with the sentiment that Mizzou is difficult to recruit - there is plenty of in-state talent to build a core around and no in-state or regional competition for recruits.

8. Ole Miss: I just don't believe Kiffin will stay put long. He never has and I don't think that's magically changed. Assuming he did, I'd move Ole Miss up a few spots. But this is the same guy who ditched Tennessee the second ol' USC came calling.

9. Auburn: Despite on field struggles, it looks like things are turning the corner behind closed doors. The fan support will always be there and Freeze has shown he can win in the past if he can keep his nose clean.

10. South Carolina: I think Beamer is a good coach and the recruiting looks solid. They took some hits in the portal so far, but I still think there is a lot of upside here.

11. Kentucky: Stoops has been great, but I worry that his tenure has slightly run its course. Kentucky reminds me of Mizzou back in the Big 12 days, they would hang around and beat better teams but could rarely piece entire seasons together.

12. Texas A&M: They should be fantastic but what a shitshow. It seems like the money machine might be slowing a bit and they lost a lot of talent over the past season. I think this will be a tough turnaround for the new coaching staff despite the excellent fan support, recruiting grounds, and resources.

13. Florida: Napier ain't it. Florida should be much, much better. Honestly, what the hell are the Gators doing?

14. Arkansas: Pittman has regressed badly. And I'm not sure a career position coach in his 60s can innovate enough to change things. A lack of local recruiting and a frustrated fanbase doesn't help things.

15. Mississippi State: Tough deal for them losing the Pirate so suddenly. But it might be bleak for awhile, and as a Mizzou fan I know all too well what a bad internal coaching hire can do to sink a program.

16. Vanderbilt: I am not convinced that anyone affiliated with the University actually gives a shite about the football program. They are collecting SEC checks for being the token elite private school.

It’s not “hard” to recruit to mizzou. Hell, drink had the #6 in sec recruiting class 2 years ago off of a 500 season.

This year, we’re going to portal route, and it’s already looking good. #1 CB landed, with a very good chance at a T5 RB.

Auburn
2020 6-5
2021 6-7
2022 5-7
2023 6-6

Based on these stats, Auburn is a basement dweller. Once Texas and Oklahoma get in the SEC Auburn will generally stay in the bottom 1/3 of the league.

There are reasons why Ohio State, ND, Oklahoma, Nebraska have set up shop in the STL area over the decades and Tom Osborne calling the program a sleeping giant.

I think it's fair as presented. UGA looks pictured for long-term success.

I'm unsure how many of these heavy coaching years (likely Saban's best) he has left.

However, his UTx comment and ranking are suspect. They've had one decent year. We'll see what happens when they play a full SEC schedule.
