I know the rest of you value the Elite 8 more than we do. Not saying that in a condescending way. While we may have more SEC championships than Elite 8s, I personally value the SEC championship more. We've got 50 something SEC titles and 38 Elite 8s.
Maybe I'm wrong and my fellow Cats will surely chime in, but I think for Big Blue Nation the litmus test for a truly memorable/special/successful season is the Final Four. We expect to to win the SEC. We expect to win the SEC Tournament.
We're basically on the Sweet 16 automatically every year. That's absolutely the basement expectation here. Not doing that consistently gets you fired. Just not excuse to not be in the Sweet 16 perennially.
But when we get to the Elite 8, we make the Final Four a little over half the time. So for UK expectations, it's just going to be different.

Regular season titles are like ending a date with a kiss on the cheek. Its... nice... but probably not quite what you were hoping for. Unless, mind you, its a SEC conference title in football.
