Maybe 2-3. He was excellent.

Mond should be better now that he is in his seventh year at A&M. With this year not counting against eligibility, just think how good he will be in the eighth!

Yea - sometimes I'd really like to have an open hotline to the PFF grader folks and just get a breakdown of what they were thinking because at times I have no clue what led to a certain grade.

Mond 13th, yet he is on the Manning & Maxwell watchlist, as well as the Wuerffel Trophy. Never understood all the love for that guy.

Best garbage time QB of all time.

5. KJ Costello (MSU) (79.5)

We'll see if this stays high when he plays a good defense. ;)

The guy that threw 6 tds is only third?

The guy that threw 6 tds is only “good”?

As far as I'm concerned, Mond can keep his eligibility forever. We're all better for it.

Actually what's going to happen is everyone is going to play zone defense against State and his efficiency numbers are going to go way up as a result from all of the ten yard pitch-and-catch plays.

I can’t for the life of me figure out how anyone thinks Bo Nix had a similar performance as Costello

I wasn't able to watch everyone, but I came away most impressed with Costello.

We got all the pressure in the world on him and he absolutely ripped apart the secondary even with some good coverage (some really bad coverage at times too) with some amazingly accurate downfield throws. It seemed like he just couldn't miss on 3rd and long all day when he got the ball off.

MSU's OL was absolutely atrocious, PFF gave 4 of the guys below a 50 grade, and 1 guy got a 0.0 pass block grade (didnt even know that was possible for a guy who played whole game ). Seriously, 1 guy gave up 12 pressures and another gave up 9, in ONE game. They could not block the front, but it didnt matter, Costello threw it up and anticipated and it paid off big time.

100% because of the turnovers

He had a much better feel for the throws and where guys would be open in split-second timing than I thought he would given the limitations on practice and timing.

PFF is heavy on turnovers and turnover-worthy plays.

Even in their analysis of Trask this weak, they mentioned his multiple "turnover-worthy" plays, when there was just 1 ball that could've been picked, but would've taken an insane catch by the OM LB.

Yea, that and the fact that they don't offer any sort of "opponent adjustment" are the biggest negatives for me.

Honestly he Burrow'd us so much on so many 3rd and longs. He converted 6 3rd and longs (none were less than 3rd and 9) on the day and all those throws were pretty much dimes. Only a couple were to wide open guys, he had to be very accurate on a lot of those and he hit his guy in stride basically. The throw over Ricks on the rub route concept was a thing of beauty for a long TD. Play was just executed perfectly on all levels between the rub just being enough to get Ricks far enough away from the receiver then the lob by Costello perfectly over Ricks with the pocket starting to collapse in front of him.

It was a well oiled machine in the first game unfortunately for us

they had similar qb ratings & completion percentage

nix had a better td/att ratio
costello had a better yd/att ratio

oh, and nix didn't turn the ball over

It's flawed in that it rewards safe plays instead of high-risk/high-reward plays. For example, I bet they consider that last TD pass to Pitts in double coverage a bad decision even though Trask had trust that Pitts would come down with it.
