It's flawed in that it rewards safe plays instead of high-risk/high-reward plays. For example, I bet they consider that last TD pass to Pitts in double coverage a bad decision even though Trask had trust that Pitts would come down with it.

Agreed, which is why I'd love to see "notes" on some of these.

Some throws are just bad decisions. Others are calculated decisions based on the target, situation, etc. Mac Jones had a similar throw down the middle to Waddle.

Me either and even with all the film he has his staunchest supporters refuse to get off the bus. At what point does an average qb get labeled and recognized as what he is, an average qb. He must have some of those same pics Jordan Jefferson had.

The PFF guys have decided even post LSU to die on the Air Raid can't work in SEC hill, so we will probably see this type of grade on KJ all season.

Literally came out yesterday about how KJ was not that good and people need to chill, it will fail.

K.J. had 3 turnovers and almost a 4th. That’s why his score is lower than some others.

Actually what's going to happen is everyone is going to play zone defense against State and his efficiency numbers are going to go way up as a result from all of the ten yard pitch-and-catch plays.

Actually what's going to happen is I'm going to throw a jab at LSU, but it's going to go over some heads.

KJ Costello (MSU) (79.5)

Inflated because of playing the pitiful defense he got to feast on.

If that defense had any honor they would commit seppuku.

I'd like to give major props to Mac Jones for his performance Saturday. I've been critical of Mac in the past but he did really well on Saturday going against what I think was a decent Missouri defensive backfield.
He completed some absolute dimes in the game. I was particularly impressed with the TD pass of 30 yard or so to Waddle in the back of the endzone. Nice game and hope he keeps it up.

So Nix is still average? Got bailed out on some 50/50 balls last week.

High end of average and better than last year. Still threw quite a few uncatchable balls.

Costello had more INT's and fumbles. Those kill you.

Nix was efficient and solid against a defense that is better than LSU's.

Don't get me wrong Costello looked great but the mistakes averaged it out.

SECstatcat had him at
- 16/27 overall (59.3%)
- 11 inaccurate throws
- 2 drops
- 2 throwaways
- 5 uncatchable throws
- 69.6% adjusted accuracy

PFF College had him with 2 drops and 3 throwaways

Nix is good but he doesn't have the best accuracy. It might not matter if his receivers continue to make catches like they did Saturday.
In particular, Seth Williams made some amazing catches where he went up and grabbed, what was really overthrown, passes out of sky.

Yeah PFF doesn't seem to understand when Bo Nix is throwing the ball away. It baffles me

He does seem to throw a lot of balls towards the sideline that are somewhat near a guy but almost seem like "maybe the guy can get there, but if not no harm no foul".

He completed 1 or 2 of those against us last year.

Exactly. Ever since the UF game last year he has thrown more and more of those. I do think it's a flaw in its own way BUT I think it skews his adjusted accuracy numbers a tad.

Agreed - it's not really "inaccurate" as it's exactly where he has decided to throw the ball. The decision may be too cautious, but the accuracy of the throw isn't the issue.
