Disclaimer: Neither of these 2 teams should make the CFP. That being said let's look at what the CFP has stated they are looking for with their rankings and how it relates to Bama hoping to backdoor

SOS: Tennessee
Head to head winner: Tennessee
Better wins: Tennessee (Wins over #5 & #11 vs Alabama's wins over #21 & #25 - Best wins are vs two 8-4 teams)
Results vs common opponents:
LSU - Tennessee blows out LSU 40-13 @ Tiger stadium. Alabama loses to LSU 32-31 @ Tiger stadium.
Vanderbilt - Tennessee beats Vandy 56-0. Alabama beats Vandy 53-3

Tennessee losses: #1 UGA & #20 South Carolina. Average ranking: 10

Alabama losses: #7 UT & #11 LSU
Average ranking: 9

If the committee follows their own guidelines, Tennessee holds the edge in every data point they're taking into account.

Don’t the criteria also explicitly say that the committee considers how well the team is likely to play in the playoff, including the effect of any injuries?

Odd how LSU fans are discussing Bama in the playoffs waaaaaaay more than actual Bama fans are.

It’s almost like they’re obsessed.

Tennessee got boat raced by USC. Bama lost on a last second field goal and in OT.

They aren't.

Head to head loss to Tennessee. Best wins over 8-4 Mississippi State & 8-4 Texas. Worse performance vs common opponents and a worse SOS.

Playoff is busted just like Cincinnati getting in. Rankings are biased and subjective, not the best teams.

Didn’t the committee also say they’d consider key injuries?

Bama lost to TN by 3 at TN on a barely made FG. If they played 10, Bama would win 8. Bama’s better. TN has absolutely no D.

The committee having Alabama already three spots higher than Tennessee busts this theory completely.

Reading comprehension clearly isn't your strong suit so here you go again:

"Tennessee > Alabama in every single category"

To bad the committee disagrees and they were sitting 3 spots behind UA last week. Do you think beating Vandy will help increase their chances?

Tennessee is ahead in every category by a tiny fraction (outside of results vs LSU) and they lost their QB for the season who is the main reason for them being so good. So, acting like that doesn't matter and won't come up is pretty silly. Especially when everything else is razor thin.

And, as said 50 times, none of this matters unless we're talking Sugar Bowl vs Orange Bowl for some reason. Neither is making the playoffs.

This ^^^^^

The better team doesn't always win.
BUT
If team A wins at home on a last second field goal over team B...
Where do you think Vegas puts the line if they play home for Team B or on a neutral site?

I disagree about your comment regarding defense.
Bama and Tennessee have no defense in road games. They both equally suck
