Bama’s number of blowout losses vs unranked teams (at the time): 0
Regardless, neither team deserves the playoffs unless USC loses this weekend and TCU gets blown out by KSU.

If the committee doesn't take into account bad losses, then they should all be fired.

Good Lord, why is everybody fretting over Alabama's miniscule chance of making the playoffs?

TX Tiger said it best:

THEY LOST TO THEM.
It's funny how playoff proponents' biggest reason is to decide it on the field...except when deciding it on the field doesn't go the way they'd like, and then there are alternative reasons to have and expand playoffs.
And it's not just that they straight up lost to Tennessee, they trail Tennessee in every meaningful category the committee looks at.

You lost to the team that lost to South Carolina. How you try to side step that fact is mind boggling.
Transitive property is a weak rebuttal.

You know what isn't?
A head to head win over Alabama
A stronger SOS than Alabama
A better resume/wins than Alabama
Better performances against common opponents. In particular one team who beat Alabama that Tennessee blew out.

Don’t the criteria also explicitly say that the committee considers how well the team is likely to play in the playoff, including the effect of any injuries?
Nah frick all that, stats or die.

Teams can improve drastically after a few games. For example, South Carolina (a team that got blown out by Florida and Georgia and lost to Missouri) dominated Tennessee.
