Miss and Louisana now rank higher than even Massachusetts. I have a hard time believing that. Massachusetts is one of the whitest and wealthiest states in the country.

These are demographic adjusted results (i.e., they are adjusted to try to remove the effects of race and socio-economic differences). Poor kids in MS may be doing better than poor kids in MA, but there are a lot more of them in MS and on average kids are doing better in MA.

It’s a lot harder to be poor in MA than MS so poverty itself is probably a stronger indicator of social dysfunction in MA than in MS.

Here's a few, among many:

Amendment V
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

Would have been if he had drawn the contact, which it certainly looked like he could have.

Would Have Been a Foul

Florida player was coming at Houston guy out of control. He should have gone up for the shot into him. Lost the ball trying to avoid. Would have been three free throws for the win.
Wow lots of poors on here. Explains the general tenor of this board.

Oren Cass is not an economist. He's a lawyer.

explain this to me. is the east german side going for the conservative party and the western side more progressive? is that what i'm seeing?

The poorer, less developed, less religious, formerly communist part of Germany supports the anti-establishment party.

The richer, more developed, more religious part of Germany supports the establishment center party.
Let's call them what they are: taxes. Trump is in favor of raising taxes and the burden will be borne by American consumers.

Was your life better under Trump or Harris?

Honestly, my life has been exactly the same under both.

It was on the Lex Fridman podcast.

quote:
“But I’ve done well with debates,” Trump told Fridman. “I became president, and then the second time I got millions more votes than I got the first time. I was told if I got 63 million … you would win. You can’t not win. And I got millions of more votes than that and lost by a whisker but— and look at what happened with the world.”

Not sure why the media is acting like this is some sort of major admission. Think he is just saying that he lost in the official vote count. No one disputes that. Later in the same interview, he called the 2020 election a fraud.
There’s no world in which this John Quinn of Quinn Logue is a high priced super lawyer. BIO

I wonder if Fox didn’t Google “John Quinn lawyer” and then confuse this guy with John Quinn of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan. BIO

The basis for dismissal was his improper appointment I thought. How does this address that in any manner?

You’re thinking of the classified documents case in Florida where the district judge went totally off the rails and will be slapped down by the 11th Circuit.

Look at see what was promised at the advent of the income tax.

The income taxes imposed by the Revenue Act of 1913 applied to the middle class. For married filers, income above $4,000, approximately $125,000 in 2024 Dollars, was taxed.

Thanks for proving this guy’s point by comparing it to the Holocaust.

I had thought it was just leftists who were so bereft of historical knowledge that the best they could do is compare everything they don’t like to Germany in the 30s and 40s but I guess not.

So why should government unfairly tax and steal wealth from anyone regardless of what they have built or earned?

Try harder on the reading comprehension. I said in the sentence immediately before the one you quoted that I'm not in favor of the tax.

Are there enough of the low class to tighten the noose on the high class? This is not a 100,000,000 thing. We are in trouble with the national debt, entitlements, etc. They will never cut spending. They will come for the eternal source and that is personal wealth.
Do you do a job that betters society or just enriches you

hmmm I'm a lawyer in a large New York City law firm

YOU DUMAZZ, Dem lackey, run the numbers on who has 100 mil and how much revenue it brings in. It's not enough. They will take my money and some of yours too. And like fully pay for Ivy League educations to boot.

Well I paid for my own Ivy League education, but would have been nice had the government paid.

Biden and Kamala haven't proposed this for the purpose of raising revenue, but as class warfare. That's one of the reasons that I don't support it.
