So they don’t lose much then. Must be what the guy was thinking when he made his mock.

UNC will be decent next year. It's good to be back in the discussion in football.

Sam Howell is legit. He'll be a long shot Heisman candidate during his sophomore season. 10 of 11 starters on offense return as well as 8 defensive starters. Injuries and overall lack of depth were the main issues during the middle portion of last season. This won't be an issue in 2020 with returning starters and highly touted freshman.

Still... UNC starts the season @ UCF and then plays AU in the Mercedes Benz Dome (de facto road game).
If the Heels can emerge 1-1 after the first two games, who knows.

Love when people make huge leap comparisons like this

LSU loses one of the best college QBs ever (arguably the best). You guys also lose the one guy your fanbase has trumpted the entire year for the turnaround on offense and at QB (Brady). You lose a ton of the core players that made up your championship team. To think you guys won't be taking a step or two back is just stupidity.

A step or two back =/= equal Auburn from 2010-2012. See below.

quote:

After that championship, Auburn had 6 players drafted in the 2011, 2012 & 2013 drafts. That's 6 total.

LSU will have more than 6 drafted in 2020 alone.

Auburn had a mediocre roster, and a couple of studs. LSU has 9 or 10 players that will be on NFL rosters in 2020. Another 6 or 7 that will be on NFL rosters in 2021. Then another 6 or 7 that will be on NFL rosters in 2022.

The comparison is stupid.

Every other top 25 prediction has them 2-5

I haven't looked at too many but the ones I saw had Clemson/OSU/Bama in the top 3.

Which prediction has LSU at 2? Not saying it's wrong but I haven't seen much of them higher than 4

Georgia fans already setting themselves up for another failure of a season ending with an SECCG blowout.

I think there's justifiable reasoning to have LSU lower than 5th

I’d agree with that. However, Florida has shown nothing to warrant them being place ahead of us. Whatever they are we should be at least a spot ahead of them.

CSB...

Here is what he had for 2019.

7. LSU
What can Joe Burrow do for an encore? The Ohio State grad transfer completed 58 percent of his passes and threw 16 touchdowns to just five interceptions. Burrow’s stats won’t wow you, especially in college football’s heightened offensive state, but his solid play was a respite for LSU fans who looked longingly at Danny Etling. Clyde Edwards-Helaire returns at running back and wide receiver Justin Jefferson was also just a sophomore in 2018. Linebacker Jacob Phillips should be a first-team All-SEC selection in 2019 and the defense should be stellar again if Breiden Fehoko, Michael Divinity and Kristian Fulton return to school.

1. A1ABAMA
2. Clemson (Got that one right)
3. Georgia
4. Ohio State
5. Oklahoma
6. Notre Dame
7. LSU
8. Texas
9. Michigan
10. Oregon
11. Florida
12. Washington
13. Central Florida
14. Penn State
15. Texas A&M
16. Wisconsin
17. Utah
18. Missouri
19. USC
20. Iowa
21. Syracuse
22. Iowa State
23. Northwestern
24. Cincinnati
25. Virginia

So we lose a Heisman winner after winning the Natty and drop to 10.

You guys get blown out by said Heisman winner, lose your QB and somehow are #2.

Yea this way too early top 25 is stellar

Based on what? Obtaining a journalism degree? Last I checked, Forde is the guy that predicted Michigan would lose three games this past season, but none of those being the Ohio State game. He's also the guy that predicted Clemson would beat LSU for the CFP title simply because he would believe someone could beat Clemson when he saw it. If you wanted in-depth analysis, there was more to be found here on the rant than from Forde.

Forde knows how to write a column, but his football knowledge is average.

Loses their entire starting offense, which wasn’t very good to begin with. They’re a solid #10 to #15 team next year. 2 is utterly ridiculous.

I know this is a butt hurt post because Tenner wasn't on the list, but it's a bit exaggerated. We certainly didn't lose the entire offense. Below is our projected starters. Lots of four and five-star talent on the list. If Tenner had this roster they'd be predicting certain NC.

We won't give up many points, so we just need to be better than that awful 2019 offense that you describe. We'll be fine.

QUARTERBACK
1. Jamie Newman (Grad)
2. Stetson Bennett IV (RJr.)
3. D'Wan Mathis (RFr.)/Carson Beck (Fr.)

RUNNING BACK
1. Zamir White (RSoph.)
2. Kenny McIntosh (Soph.)/James Cook (Jr.)
3. Kendall Milton (Fr.)

TIGHT END
1. Tre' McKitty (Grad)
2. John FitzPatrick (RSoph.)
3. Darnell Washington (Fr.)/Ryland Goede (RFr.)/Brett Seither (RFr.)

OUTSIDE RECEIVERS
X-Receiver
1. George Pickens (Soph.)
2. Marcus Rosemy (Fr.)/Tommy Bush (RSoph.)
3. Arian Smith (Fr.)

Z-Receiver
1. Demetris Robertson (RSr.)
2. Jermaine Burton (Fr.)/Matt Landers (RJr.)
3. Trey Blount (RJr.)/Makiya Tongue (RFr.)/Justin Robinson (Fr.)

SLOT RECEIVER
1. Dominick Blaylock (Soph.)
2. Demetris Robertson (RSr.)/ Kearis Jackson (RSoph.)

RIGHT TACKLE
1. Jamaree Salyer (Jr.)
2. Warren McClendon (RFr.)/Owen Condon (RSoph.)
3. Tate Ratledge (Fr)/Austin Blaske (Fr.)

RIGHT GUARD
1. Ben Cleveland (Sr.)
2. Warren Ericson (RSoph.)
3. Netori Johnson (RJr.)

CENTER
1. Trey Hill (Jr.)
2. Clay Webb (Fr.)/Warren Ericson (RSoph.)

LEFT GUARD
1. Justin Shaffer (Sr.)
2. Clay Webb (RFr.)
3. Devin Willock (Fr.)

LEFT TACKLE
1. Xavier Truss (RFr.)
2. Warren McClendon (RFr.)/Owen Condon (RSoph.)
3. Austin Blaske (Fr.)
3. Jermaine Burton (Fr.)

So we return majority of our offense and defense and get our 10 win QB back off injury. Have the most SEC depth we’ve ever had. Coming off a season where we won 8 games without a QB.

But we definitely don’t sniff the Top 25.
