re: What's the dumbest thing you've seen a head coach do

The fake punt on 4 and 11 at midfield by Kirby Smart was pretty bad.
The decision to go for it was understandable given the defense was getting gashed by Hurts who had fresh legs. The issue, imo, was still going through with it after the defense clearly knew what was coming. If its clear you won't be able to sneak one passed them and you have no faith your defense can get another stop, call the timeout (don't remember if UGA had any more at the time) and run an actual play.

Uh oh, you're gonna upset the 6 UGA basketball fans if they see this.

Stingley was unreal. Best frosh CB in a long time. Have hopes for Ringo at UGA.

An LSU fan posting about UGA? This is new.

UGA did, the offense did not. Take it up with cfbstats.com.
I thought yall were talking about offensive points per game? This thread has become a pissing match anyway, so its whatever.

So UGA still averaged more than 30 PPG last season.
Got it.
They did, but not 30.8 like you said. If you take out the FCS opponent they didn't even average 28 points per game. The offense was awful and should be able to improve if Monken is actually able to run his offense.

You know there are sites that track this stuff, correct?
If you take out the defensive TD against Tennessee, UGA averaged 30.28 per game. So I guess those sites are wrong. So no one is right, but me. Atlanta917 and RB10 should brush up on their math skills.

UGA was better overall over last 3 years.
Debatable. Pretty sure LSU finished ranked ahead of UGA 2 out of the 3 years. While I agree there's not much separation between LSU and UGA the last 3 years, their natty win gives them the bump. Not a slight to UGA since LSU has been a top program over that time-frame. Clemson/Bama/LSU would be tier 1, followed by UGA/OU/OSU imo.

That's a lazy argument.
Not really. What has kentucky done to prove themselves? In their best season in recent memory they got stomped by UGA in Lexington and lost to a bad UT team.

This year the O will be bad (too many new parts working together for the first time.
UGA has the talent on offense to do well. They just need an offensive scheme change. While I don't expect an LSU level change, improving from 30 a game shouldn't be too difficult.

Next year the D will be in rebuild mode.
The defense should be better next year and there's no reason to think it will fall off a cliff the following year with how UGA recruits.
quote:
UGA is the only team that can run 4 years of top recruiting and still be too young and too inexperienced to compete with playoff caliber teams
UGA has a winning record against top 10 opponents the last 4 years, but keep pushing that narrative I guess.
Its hilarious how clueless UT fans are.

why do people continue to underestimate them
What have they done to prove themselves? What's their record against UGA, UF, and UT the last 4 years?

it's lazy fricks like you who continue to doubt them
How is it lazy to doubt a team that never does anything?

With nowhere near the talent around him he'll have at UGA. Its odd you can't understand that.

With worse talent around him. Its hilarious people act like Newman will have the same talent around him at UGA that he had at Wake Forest.

Maybe. Florida certainly isn't an obstacle any more.

Doubtful. MuLLLen is winless against Smart

I didn't mention any of that other stuff.
lol but thats what we were talking about. I said I doubt Kentucky competes for the east. Could they upset someone? Sure. Do they have the talent to compete for the east? No.

USCe beat the Dogs in Athens. Maybe UK can do it too.
They did, but they didn’t compete for the east. Kentucky would have to beat UGA and UF to compete for the east. I guess it’s possible for Newman to toss 4 picks in that game, but doubt Florida and UT do as well and they both have more talent than Kentucky. Saying a team has a shot at an upset is different than saying a team will compete for their division.

We actually have a healthy QB in that game this last season and you have a good shot at catching an L.
lol so a healthy QB would've been a 21 point swing? Doubt it. Only 2 teams managed to score 20+ on UGA and Kentucky just didn't have the players to do so, healthy or not.
quote:
Why are you so insecure?
Why do you refuse to accept reality? UGA is bad at basketball, so I don't expect them to beat superior opponents like Kentucky. On the flip side, Kentucky is bad at football and hasn't had a close game with UGA in a while.

But what are they doing with that talent? Kirby Smart is Mark Richt 2.0.
Their best season in 40 years? 3 straight trips to the SECC? 3 top 10 finishes? Being one of two SEC coaches with a winning record against top 10 opponents?
