OU/TX should be more worried about Ole Miss, State, USC, UK, etc than Bama, LSU, UF, etc..

I think OU and Texas are prepared to rise up to the level of the top competition soon. What I don't think they are prepared for yet is how strong our bottom tier teams like Ole Miss, State, South Carolina, and Kentucky can be.

OU especially had a tendency to take weeks off in the Big 12 and barely beat really bad teams on the 11am games. You have to realize in this conference that the 3-5 record Miss St team you are about to play in Starkville is still stacked with Mississippi Delta NFL defensive linemen who will wear your arse out if you don't give it 100%. Outside of Vandy, our very worst teams still land top 25-30 classes on a regular basis. Virtually every single game is a top 25 opponent in terms of raw talent and NFL prospects.

Texas needs time to rebuild and has an SEC coach who understands. I think OU will beat some really good teams but also lose to some stunners until Lincoln Riley adjusts to the weekly grind.

They are both in store for a 7-5, 8-4 type of year on the front end of this marriage.

In their minds they don't have two rise. In their minds, getting in means they are already there.

Very well said. The SEC schedule is a freaking meat grinder.

Adjusting to the bodies the sec has will present a learning curve, and definitely not allow OU to coast through games like they have gotten used to the last 10 years, but Oklahoma is always as big or bigger than most sec teams, hell most years the OU oline is bigger on average than NFL lines. OU already out talents everybody but Bama, and playing in the sec with Riley as coach basically elevates that talent level even more. Top 5/10 classes are the normal for OU and with the coaching talent and pick of the litter of top QBs and WRs every year I think we are all in for some awesome games at the top. Texas on the other hand has a LOT of culture and coaching to make up to compete at the top of the SEC.

How many times have we seen tight bowl games, only to have the SEC team impose their will on their opponents in the 4th quarter? You not only have to be stacked.....but stacked deep.

OU was pretty nasty on defense last year. Top 30 with a very young squad. Most project them to have a top 3 offense and top 15 defense this year with all that talent returning and another year in the grinch system. The coach that put those embarrassing defenses on the field the last few years is long gone. Different culture now.

Oklahoma will probably have a learning curve when it comes to adjusting to the level of athletes they see every week. They will definitely lose some to some big underdogs early on.

Texas will be in trouble though. They are exactly like Tennessee except the record has been better due to weaker competition. If Texas can't turn its culture around with Sark and start recruiting at a high level again off the SEC reputation, they could be looking at seasons in the 5-7 range. Especially if we go to a 9 conference game schedule. Not only are they under-recruiting for their status as the flagship university for the 2nd largest state in the country, but the recruits they do get are not getting developed either. 247 recently published that they had the worst conversion of 5 stars into draft picks of any program in the country over the past decade.

You really should learn something about the conference before making these statements. LSU says I do not think so.

OU can beat anybody right now. Texas always recruits extremely well. Texas now has an SEC coach who just happened to come from Alabama. Texas high school coaches and players are VERY excited about this move to the SEC. Expect to have the #1 recruiting class forever. They'll get the pick of the litter from now on. Give them three or four years. Remember which schools voted for their move to the SEC. SEC is delusional. There has never been this much excitement in Austin. REmember, no horns down.
OU will be hanging some L's on Bama, UGA, UF. Those series are prolly gonna go 50/50. Those OU Sugar Bowls. Remember those? Not good for getting as many SEC teams into the playoffs.

And UF, and UGA. TAMU likely will be for this year. Not to mention that USC, UK, UT, Auburn, MSU, and Arky are all more talented than every other team in the BIG 12 they're used to facing not named Texas.

Unless Burrow returns, not a big reason to worry about LSU
