Kenny Trill was more of a half season wonder, he still put up good stats until Bama, when he just flat sucked.

Buford McGee,back in 1980. 5 star freshman running back scored on a 79 yd TD run on the first play of the season against Memphis. finished with 180 yds and another TD. caught the friggin turf toe 3rd game of that season, and kept it for 4 years at Ole Miss. Healed his friggin turf toe in time to go on to a decent career with the Rams in the NFL.

Roland Sales set an Orange bowl record of over 200 yards against oklahoma in 1978.he was playing because Holtz suspended several starters.I don't know of anyone who had ever heard of him.

Went 2-6 that year. You could have put a guard back there at QB and he would have scored 6 touchdowns.
I wasn't trying to bag on UK. Just one of those weird stats that you don't see. Florida was only 4-4 in conference that season.

Joe Cox lit Arkansas up like a Christmas tree in 2009 and was very average besides that game

Non SEC submittal:
Edwin Simmons Texas RB 1983
As a freshman vs OU 14 carries 105 yds 2 TD's. 6'4" 220 lbs and blazing fast. Came right after Eric Dickerson and Marcus Dupree.. we thought we had our 4 year beast at RB.
Unfortunately he had one leg 1"+ shorter than the other and developed knee issues. Last seen by Austin PD hiding in the bushes totally naked at 2am in a nice Austin suburb. Told the cops his name was "#33". Longhorn lore is full of stories that he was "taking care" of a coach or big boosters wife and they were "interrupted".

I was going to mention Cox, but in reference to 2006 colorado instead, but didn't because of that excellent 09 game.

Wrong. He was a horse his whole freshman year.

Justin Vincent had two great games for LSU.
He's kinda like Tracey Porter was at corner for the Saints. Not a bad career, but nothing exceptional- except for 2 games, the 2 biggest in the Saints' history.
In both these guy's cases, if you ONLY look at their performances on the biggest stages, you'd assume they were superstars, 1st ballot HOF'ers. Then you look at the careers, and realize- damn, they weren't all that great, except for that one moment.
But, what a moment!

Derek Jones For Ole Miss 2013. Had lots of athletic ability but it just never developed He was wide receiver but Ole Miss had a lot of defensive back injuries with no. 6 LSU coming to town with mettenberger Beckham and Landry. Jones gave an all American type performance that night as Ole Miss upset LSU 27 to 24.

Wasn't a win, but how about Brandon Harris' 5 minutes of mop-up duty in the Miss State game for LSU?
Reaction:
good, at least we aren't getting shut out.
Wow, this kid is pretty good.
GODDAMN WE GOT A QB!
alas, it was all smoke

Cecil Collins - LSU
While arguably slightly more than an "one game wonder" (really a 2 game wonder), he puts up a combined 300 yards of offense vs. Auburn on a night where he appeared to be an unstoppable force. LSU fans were even thinking he was better than Kevin Faulk. 2 games later he breaks his leg and eventually gets arrested and kicked off the team for "accidentally" breaking into apartments and climbing in the beds of sleeping girls. He then transfers to McNeese St., eventually gets kicked off the team and STILL gets drafted by the Dolphins.
For one fleeting moment he looked like the best RB in LSU history.

Trey Burton is a good one, but I nominate a true one game wonder.
Torrey Davis was a 5-star all world DT in high school who made exactly 2 plays in college, but both came during the 2nd quarter goal line stand against OU in the 08 title game.

Started more games for the Dolphins than LSU.
Unbelievable what could have been.

I’m shocked no South Carolina fan has said the most obvious answer to this question....Stephen Garcia.
Garcia fricking turned into Peyton Manning for that 1 game against Bama

Ole Miss limped into the 2013 LSU game down several defensive starters and contributors including Robert Nkemdiche. True Freshman John Youngblood was an undersized DL who mostly contributed on ST throughout his career. He didn't have an incredible game, but he had 4 tackles and a TFL in his first career start and really held his own and let the LBs behind him make plays.
