A poster on the corner wareaglegsu who people say is plugged in said Crawford was going to enter regardless and thinks he lands at Miami. Also believes kayin and amaris enter as well. All three have been planning on entering regardless of who had been hired.
Hoke posted that he talked with Crawford about if he plans on remaining in portal or will come back and Crawford said it depends. Hoke believes this is nil/rev share related and Crawford wants around $1M but Auburn isn't interested in offering that much or close to that.
Hoke thinks the staff isn't going to give contracts based on emotion and are very strict on their evals and aren't committing to desperation deals to retain roster. They'll prioritize a balance of proven production and accountability before handing out big deals.

TIFWIW, Rejects on the Bunker made a post that said Tim Banks (recently fired TN DC) is going to be our new safeties coach. I didn't see the post because it was deleted, but someone else made a thread asking why it was deleted and rejects said they deleted it because it was too early to post.
re: What's the Coaching Staff going to be?

So a poster on the Corner named "antisocialites" made a post regarding what they've heard regarding the coaching staff so take this with a grain of salt but anyway they claim the following:
• Rushing expected to return. Says Rushing is expected to talk with Stanford (his alma mater) about a position there but still believes he returns to Auburn regardless
• Durkin will be DC only and won't coach ILBs anymore. Todd Orlando from USF is expected to join as Co-DC/ILB and will be announced tomorrow
• Chad Creamer the Edge/OLB and STC at USF is expected to join in same roles here. Orlando and Creamer may wait till after USF bowl game to join
• Marcus Davis is being given option to return but says it's 60/40 Leave/Stay if he stays his role is unknown
• RB and TE coaches should be announced tomorrow. They don't know who would coach TEs haven't heard any names but they've heard either USF RB coach or Mississippi State RB coach and a couple of others but didn't mention who the others were ( MSU RB coach and Golesh coached together at UCF in 2020 as co-ocs)
• RB/OL/TE will be focus of portal.
•USF QB Byrum Brown would be only QB to join unless Deuce and Ashton leave. Believes Golesh is making keeping Deuce a priority as well as Cam and Simmons.
• Staff wants to keep Singleton, Perry and Fields but believe it's more likely they leave than stay. Expects a lot of USF receivers to transfer in
• Expects some USF D players to transfer in but the focus is on retaining the core D players that are eligible to return. Atkins is a lock to return with DJD coming back
Edit: They made a comment in the thread responding to someone saying Singleton and Koger would look good in O&B claiming those are 2 names they heard could transfer in along with Nimrod.
They also wrote their info is third hand and stuff is fluid so they could be wrong on some things

A poster on the corner who called the Golesh hire the night before says Durkin is staying. Pete Nakos commented that it was trending positively toward him staying as well.
I think Clemente and others have said he's been helping golesh with the recruiting class so anyway tifwiw. I know smuphy said it was trending toward him leaving but others are now saying it's trending toward him staying

Iron Bowl Predictions

28-24 Auburn
Hoke posted that Cohen and Sumrall met last Friday, and Cohen was more assertive than the first interview about the importance of Durkin for roster retention. They can't afford significant turnover and needs to win immediately. Sumrall didn't make any guarantees and Cohen didn't issue an ultimatum. Durkin will get serious consideration for the job.
Cohen will continue meeting with his primary candidates this week and will start letting prominent boosters in on where he's at as the process progresses.

how long does the ABC/ESPN and SEC contract last?
There's some chatter that Cohen isn't high on Sumrall and it was more a interview he was forced into by the PTB and his top two are Lea and Franklin. Pretty sure JF is the frontrunner at VT, Arkansas also thinks he's the frontrunner for theirs. Apparently Sumrall wants NB and that's a condition of his. IDK about Lea.
ETA: Sumrall has apparently given Cohen a EOW deadline because he has written offers from other schools and needs to make a decision ASAP and wants to start working on roster retention

There's a post on the corner about Jboy being on a radio show saying Sumrall HC, Neal Brown OC and Durkin DC
Don't know if this is who makers is insinuating but Lincoln Riley was mentioned on the corner/Bunker. Apparently he wants out at USC and the feeling is mutual.
I remember his name mentioned on the other coaching search thread and smuphy said his agent has been putting his name out for the past month or so

I'm not sure it matters if AD burns his red shirt or not, even if he preserved it and was able to come back next year there's no guarantee he's the starting QB next year or if he even plays at all unless DJ is the permanent HC.
The new HC even if it's DJ may decide to bring in a transfer portal QB so I'm not sure if it's worth preserving his red shirt unless he's been guaranteed he'll be the starter next year or something.
I don't think we have to have him for Mercer so JA or DK can play Mercer then start him vs Bama. If we beat Bama and become bowl eligible or if there aren't enough bowl eligible teams and we make one at 5-7 then maybe that's where you decide if you want to burn his RS or not
