then why didn't they pay, you dumbass?

Precedent. There isnt really any yet, and LSU probably told the players let it play out in court to see if they can settle for less or none at all.

Do you even southern lawyer bro?

LSU is correct that they aren’t a party to said contract so they have zero obligation to pay anything.

Here’s the thing about that though, while LSU isn’t on the hook, the players in question are.

And other schools have been paying these buyouts. LSU is kind of setting a precedent here forcing Ole Miss to sue to get paid what they’re owed.

Which is why I find the argument that “Ole Miss is suing because they’re poor lol” kind of rich. Other schools have ponied up. Why is LSU refusing?

Best guess is because it counts against the schools rev share total - and LSU probably doesn't have a $1mil left in that allotted pool of money.

Not that they don't have a mil generally. Just that they don't have it in the rev share cap

Upfront I think it’s honestly weird.

LSU paid Kiffins buyout and on and on despite not being on the contract.

It’s the same thing.

Our AD had to know that this is how it could potentially end up.

To force a court to set a precedent to keep these contracts from getting out of control.

Honestly I think this is good. We’re in the Wild West right now where the power balance has shifted a hair *too* far in favor of the players. We can’t allow break of legally binding contracts to happen or we’re in for a real mess.

The schools have to have some ability to enforce these contracts.

I’m not sure there’s that sort of nobility on LSU’s end here. They’re basically hanging the players out to dry.

Maybe. Maybe not.

Nobody has a clue what was discussed with the players heading into all of this.

Some schools had to be the bad guys to rein in the transfer portal issues. Sucks it had to be LSU and Ole Miss.

Let's be honest.

No one really knows whats going on because the only side talking about this are Ole Miss posters and reporters.

The same people who have been wrong pretty consistently the last 8 months or so.

I’ve seen the filing for the suit.

Ole Miss absolutely has these two by the balls. They’re on the hook.

That doesn't mean anything, people file lawsuits on false pretenses daily.

I'm not saying that is or isn't happening, I'm saying all of the information is coming from one side and that side has an obvious axe to grind and has jumped to various conclusions over the past few months, in cases where they ended up being incorrect.

LSU threw the players under the bus. It’s there in the timeline. That’s the effect of LSU saying it isn’t a party to the contract. Great for Ole Miss in recruiting.

That part isn't even controversial, LSU isn't a party to this contract.

Ole Miss couldn't be more obvious with their frivolous bs
So you've seen the contract that was signed? Seems like it should be pretty clear in the contract and whether it's frivolous or not. This bullshite needs to be settled once and for all. Maybe these are suits to decide whether you can hopscotch every year from one school to another.

It’s pretty ironclad. These guys are on the hook.

Again, other schools have been paying these buyouts. Why is LSU letting their players get sued?
