How would they not immediately be sued For the Clemson player then?

Clemson never signed him to a rev share agreement. We did pay Cal for him though

Yeah, a very bad look for LSU. Advising the kids to transfer and then leaving them high and dry because the children's hospital money well has dried up.
People this defensive are always very confident in their stances lol

We don't need to bicker big dog. The headlines will let the recruits know what's up.

I’ve wondered about this. Why hasn’t other schools done the same to players that defected? What is unique about this case?

If I were a betting man...I am betting LSU will eventually cover this, but its going to be on THEIR time line, not Ole Miss' especially since OM only cares about contracts when it affects them...

If you are talking about the Clemson kid he never signed a contract. These 2 did and didn’t pay the buyout that was in the contract they signed. Everyone wants Ole Miss to win because these contracts need to be enforceable. There has to be some form of guardrails. This has been known since they broke the contract with Ole Miss and signed with LSU.

The players that left didn’t sign Contracts with buyouts. And if they did the school taking them agreed to pay the buyout. The window of playing in the playoffs extending the portal for Ole Miss players is in play here.

While he didn't have a rev share contract, he had a contract nontheless and OM violated that contract with the tampering with a player already enrolled in school and in class and why their is an investigation now OM is under...

Again, OM only cares about contracts when it affects them...stop the pearl clutching...

Prove we tampered. Literally any proof. Dabo's press conference? LOL. What happened to all that evidence?

It isn’t money back. It is a penalty for breaking the contract. Completely different thing.

So LSU gets to publicly back their players while Ole Miss is publicly suing players…how does Ole Miss win here? If other schools have paid buyouts then what is the real outcome here if Ole Miss gets their money? Maybe I’m missing something.

They didn’t. It was a year long contract with a buyout clause. The players exercised the buyout clause but didn’t pay the buyout. The amount they were paid or going to be paid is irrelevant. I’m sure the money was spread out like every other college football player contact.

There’s numerous examples of coaches having been signed and announced and even having press conferences a famous example being Billy Donovan

Most if not all were given courtesy given they didn’t receive a dime.

I understand ole miss’ position but it’s not going to look great if they never received money.

By enforcing a contract. It’s isn’t complicated. You can’t let the rest of your team know that they can break contracts without punishment. These are pro’s getting paid. You sign a contract you are held to it.

LSU and the players gambled that Ole Miss wouldn’t file suit because of the PR. I think the facts are straight forward. Only people biased would not understand why Ole Miss would sue.

They tried twice to ask for payment from the players and LSU. There was no payment. This is where we are.

I get that.

The converse is what’s going to happen this next off season. They aren’t going to sign anything

Someone already said other buyouts have been paid by the other schools so how is that letting the rest of your team know they can’t leave without punishment?
