No. 23 Missouri picked up a big rivalry win on Friday night, pulling away from Kansas for a 38-21 victory in Lawrence.
The Border Showdown was tied 14-14 at halftime before Missouri took control in the second half. The Tigers scored 14 unanswered points to open the third quarter and outscored the Jayhawks 24-7 after halftime.
Quarterback Austin Simmons led the way for Missouri, completing 19 of 29 passes for 292 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions.
Running back Jamal Roberts added 125 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries, including a 64-yard score in the second quarter. Donovan Olugbode caught six passes for 121 yards and a touchdown, while Cayden Lee finished with six catches for 120 yards and a score.
Missouri's defense also came up big, forcing three Kansas turnovers and holding the Jayhawks scoreless in the fourth quarter.
The Tigers outgained Kansas 469-255 and improved to 2-0 on the season with the win.
