Yes—VY’s Rose Bowl v USC. Nothing else is particularly close. Pre-SEC for UT but depends on how you look at it in answering.

re: SEC schools ranked by SAT scores

Incorrect. It was indeed a federal constitutional issue that was decided. The case was the Ayers case and was litigated in the US District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi. Awful decision but it is true that a federal decree mandated equal admission standards in state schools in Mississippi (like Ole Miss, Alcorn State, Miss St and Jackson State) based on claims of unequal public funding (which is the case with virtually all public universities in terms of funding). All are different in some way and contribute in different ways to students where they exist. Don’t go to UT to be a veterinarian. That would be something aTm is better for.

Great question. The value of programs is at its peak because the interest in college teams will be eroded by the move toward professional status/mercenary character of players, evolving science on head trauma, the primacy of the nfl that provides the same product but better, and an increasingly transient population that doesn’t have regional loyalty. Sorry to be Debbie Downer but I can’t help what I loved most about college ball versus what I see now. I see what I see. Maybe an old fart’s view, but perhaps also true.
re: Ole Miss files lawsuit against two LSU players

That’s between LSU and its players left to face the music. I suspect the players’ lawyers are looking to LSU for indemnity and the real question then becomes whether LSU steps up and protects them. Now who would trust LSU to do that? I wouldn’t. But I hope LSU does. Then again, these aren’t babes in the woods. They are professionals. I’m assuming they have mental capacity and aren’t underaged to enter binding agreements.

Let me help you. The contract is enforceable against the players unless they were underage or lacked mental capacity to agree to its terms. The practical effect of LSU saying it isn’t its problem has 1,000,000 practical effects on the players unless LSU gets religion and pays their debt.

LSU threw the players under the bus. It’s there in the timeline. That’s the effect of LSU saying it isn’t a party to the contract. Great for Ole Miss in recruiting.

Only thing sadder are the folks gloating over and making fun of this guy’s troubles. Ramonce was a fantastic player who contributed significantly in UT’s epic win v USC in the NC game. He has made poor decisions since as many do. I hope he gets it together.

I agree. He certainly showed poise in last year’s sec championship game v Texas when Beck got knocked out of the game. Had his head almost taken off near the end of that game and held on to the ball. I admire that. Hope we get to him better this year.

Results so far in sec look great for Texas. I like this conference. We win most of the games and the only response is to denigrate the quality of the opposition (the sec). Good times.
