Vandy is 8-3-1 against UT-Austin in football. Five of those games were shut outs. Largest margin of victory, 45-0.

I'd love to see that tradition continue!

It's going to be borderline erotic when Vandy beats Texas in football.

Vanderbilt is an excellent academic school with a championship-caliber baseball program. Vanderbilt is also not as inept as they are often made out to be when it comes to football. In good years they can be 7-5 or 8-4. In a conference like the Big 12 they'd probably be middle of the pack, a perennial bowl team. Plus it doesn't make sense to have a conference without any lesser teams. You need to have a few teams who are expected to lose to some extent.

But more importantly, there's these the concepts called loyalty, tradition, and respect that Texas understandably knows little about. Vanderbilt is a founding member of our conference, has been loyal for nearly 90 years, and has consistently been an upstanding member. They have more than earned their right to remain.

Vanderbilt would easily finish mid tier of the Big XII every year.

Basketball, baseball, prestigious institution, access to the Nashville market. Also a founding member.

All things that be could be googled in 10 seconds.

It's like this site was just flooded with the worst of "People of Walmart" with all these dumbass Texas posts.

Think of them as your new Baylor, except much, much better people. They will probably beat you about 40% of the time, like Baylor has the last 10 years.

I hate Vanderbilt because they made a mockery of SEC football (and in fact the entire sport) by pulling the woke stunt with the female kicker last season. Phuck Vanderbilt.

1928 was the last time we played Vanderbilt.

To be fair, after the the events subsequent to that stunt it's pretty obvious the players were not fans of that AT ALL.

Not sure about the fans, but I would bet it's not too different.

Most every league has a private school or two. They have their place, especially since the reason colleges exist is to provide an education for students. Sports as the be-all and end-all for life have gotten out of hand. NIL is going to destroy team chemistry. Three of the original founding members of the SEC were private: Vandy, Tulane and Sewanee. Vandy belongs in the SEC every bit as much as Baylor belongs in what's left of the Big X11, Duke belongs in the ACC, Northwestern belongs in the Big16 and Stanford belongs in the Pac-12. Frankly, college sports are no longer 'amateur.'

Over the last decade, Texas and Vandy have the same number of 9+ win seasons and the same number of conference championships. Texas does have them clearly beat on Alamo Bowl Ws and dildos per capita though, so you've got that going for you.

Texas has 4 losing seasons since 2010. In the XII. You're an Ehlinger away from being Vandy football.

We know Vanderbilt. We've competed against Vanderbilt. Texas, sir, is no Vanderbilt.

Know your role, whorn.

It's a long time ago now, but Vanderbilt was the first true power in Southern football. In 1922 they played Michigan at the dedication of Dudley Field. Vandy's head coach, Dan McGugin, spoke to his players before the game. He gestured towards a nearby military cemetery and said, "Out there lie the bones of your grandfathers." Then he pointed to the Michigan team. "And down on that field are the grandsons of the Yankee soldiers who put them there."

They've got a spot until they choose to leave.
