re: Vanderbilt is the only SEC team not making a bowl game. - sewaneerebel
Money and ESPN rule together. Break Even Bowls out the arse forever. But I will always think a team should win 7 games and have a winning record to go to a bowl. ...

re: Is Kiffin playing chess ? - sewaneerebel
I've never understood how young guys can truly respect any coach who is grossly out of shape. They are asked to put themselves through hell; so aside from longevity and handling the stress of it all, a smart HC should stay in shape the best he can....

re: Is Kiffin playing chess ? - sewaneerebel
Serious question: Kiffin's name comes up with every opening (he's not going anywhere, BTW). But why isn't Leach's name thrown out there? Asking for a friend....

re: B-b-but the rant told me Lane was gone??? What happened?? Ah, let me guess, - sewaneerebel
About the 10-win season thing for Ole Miss: it was the first 10-win REGULAR season, not the first 10-win season. Just for the record: OM went 10-1 in 1955; 10-1 in 1959; 10-0-1 in 1960; 10-0 in 1962; 10-2 in 1971; 10-3 in 2003 and 10-3 in 2015. The difference is that the previous 10-win seasons ...

re: Notre Dame join a conference already - sewaneerebel
The committee should take SOS into account for everyone. Going undefeated or having one loss against a cushy schedule should not entitle any team to get into the playoff. That would be the argument against staying independent. And would be the argument for playing the toughest independent schedule...

re: Notre Dame join a conference already - sewaneerebel
Covid gave them the ideal opening, since they filled their 'dance card' with ACC teams. IMO, ND should not be included in the playoffs over other Power 5 teams which belong to conferences and have to play an extra game. Even Group of 6 Cincinnati has to play an extra game. Texas thought they co...

re: Ole Miss turning in to one of the “winners”, per se - sewaneerebel
I would agree that if the playoff expands, the SEC will always be a major factor, contributing from 2 to 4 teams every year....

re: Ole Miss turning in to one of the “winners”, per se - sewaneerebel
I beg to disagree. Unpredictable. A & M beat Bama. Auburn beat OM. State beat Auburn. OM beat State. Arkansas beat A & M. OM beat Arkansas. LSU beat A & M. Arkansas beat Auburn. LSU beat State. State beat A & M. Without a doubt, the SEC West is the toughest division in the toughest league ye...

re: Ole Miss turning in to one of the “winners”, per se - sewaneerebel
Umm...Notre Dame and Kelly had the pick of opponents every year since it refuses to join a conference. That is a huge advantage in winning when you can recruit nationally as they can. The SEC (particularly the West) is totally unforgiving, and there are no breathers. ...

re: Ole Miss turning in to one of the “winners”, per se - sewaneerebel
I'd suggest you worry more about how Brian Kelly coaches in the SEC. No more lineup of 8 or 9 cupcakes every year as an independent. And, yes, Matt Luke wasn't a head coach, but he is a good coordinator. Kiffin has found a home, whether you admit it or not. ...

re: Ole Miss turning in to one of the “winners”, per se - sewaneerebel
Certain comments on Corral ignore the fact that Kiffin saw his potential (he was already there)and made the decision to give him the nod over Rhys-Plumley. In other words, Kiffin develops what he has, not the other way around....

re: Ole Miss turning in to one of the “winners”, per se - sewaneerebel
The reality is that Kiffin can stay at Ole Miss and win the way Johnny Vaught did for 25 years. At Bama, he would have to outcoach both Saban and Bryant. OM is investing 400 million in facility upgrades for him; the entire West side of the stadium will be rebuilt according to what Kiffin would lik...

re: Old SEC Memorabilia - sewaneerebel
So, whoever made this was pretty sloppy about who actually was in the conference then. Probably got an older document and just printed 1971 on it. I really liked Tulane being in the league. Everyone loved to go to New Orleans for those away games. ...

re: Ole Miss faking injuries - sewaneerebel
State is the only team in the country allowed to have artificial noisemakers. But the agreement was that they were to 'ring responsibly,' and stop when the opposing team got to the line of scrimmage. That was frequently violated Thursday night. For that matter, it's time the NCAA simply bans all ...

re: Congrats on the 10 win regular season, Ole Miss - sewaneerebel
RAB: Bama makes it look easy to notch 10 wins every year in the SEC West; but it is anything but. Toughest division in the toughest league in America, and I can't see that changing....

re: Ole Miss has never had 10 regular season wins before? - sewaneerebel
Ole Miss had the following 10-win seasons including bowl games through the years: 1955--10-1; 1959--10-1; 1960--10-0-1; 1962--10-0; 1971--10-2; 2003--10-3; 2015--10-3. National Championships came in 1959, 1960 and 1962 from at least one poll service active back then. Some teams did not start playi...
