65th best team in the country

I know this is good natured trolling, but I used to think this way.

A&M removed from this situation, there are not a lot of St. Peter’s compared to Norfolk State, Texas Southern, Delaware, etc. that got in via AQ that probably are not even worthy of the NIT. Winning the NIT is probably equivalent of a sweet 16 seed at best I’d say.

The womens side is even worse. I think USCe womens was up 40-3 or something vs their 16 seed at the half. There’s probably 20 other teams that didn’t make the tournament this year that could have done better.

Personally I'd rather not play at all. It's a bad look when teams do that, but personally I think it's worse for the brand when you play in it. When Texas was in the NIT in 2019, I was hoping they would lose as fast as possible to avoid people realizing they were even in that tournament.

We were pretty over Shaka at that point as he had not delivered and went 16-16 with a one-and-done NBA prospect. And then that prospect (Jaxson Hayes) sat out the entire tournament, we still won it all. So that goes to show what kind of competition you're getting and how bad the other teams want to be there.

Just my two cents. Winning the NIT used to be a very big deal. Now it's competing for 69th place.

Its a lot like playing in the Birmingham Bowl. Winning doesn't buy you much, but its sure better than losing it.

The Longhorns claimed it as a National Championship and tweeted that out. So who knows

And the reaction was so bad that they took it down 8 minutes later. Nice try though.

Didn't y'all have a sellout crowd for last night's game which determined who could finish 69th and who will finish tied for 73rd in the country? WICKED AWESOME!

Buzz sure has things in the right direction in the first 3 years!!!!

It means that A&M has a legit gripe about not making the NCAA tournament. But teams get overlooked every year. At least these kids get to say they played at MSG once in their lives

I've kind of always felt like, if you won the NIT, it probably meant you deserved to be in over a lot of the teams that did make it.

Then I've seen how the SEC has done so far, and maybe not?

Winning the NIT means more basketball to watch of your favorite team, so I don’t see how it’s bad. It also strengthens A&M’s argument that they should’ve been in.

No,not at all. I'd be fine with it. In fact, my dad who was a Vanderbilt grad and I attended the 1990 NIT Title game at MSG vs St Louis. That was pretty cool.

As long as the rinky-dink conferences get bids, its never 65th best.

Ask any Neanderthal who says his or her team is too good for NIT if there team should turn down a bowl that isn't a NY6 one? Same thing.

Hell no man. Embarassing is when Calipari took us to the NIT in 2013 and we lost in the first damn round to Robert Morris. Neither he or the players clearly wanted to be there. It was a damned joke.

If you accept that bid, then you're in it to win it.

I like the Aggies chances. I've got A&M beating Xavier. Give em hell boys.

probably more like 48ish. There are so many AQ's from the piddly leagues that are ranked like 150+ in the NET and Kempom.

TAMU-CC for example won the Southland and is 241.

Not necessarily. The winner is the only other undefeated team in the post season tournaments.

I'm sure all of Aggieland would be claiming a national championship and how great they are in basketball blah, blah blah like they always do for every sport they field, even though they never win in anything.

Dude, you are OBSESSED with those photos. Starting to think it has nothing to do with Texas for you at all and more about your... personal life choices (not that there's anything wrong with that! )

Went to the Aggie-Wake Forest game last night. Free parking/admission. The crowd was electric. I could be wrong but our team is all Freshman? If Buz can bring in some talent next year we should be very good going forward. Introduced Women's Basketball's new head coach Joni Taylor at halftime.
Aggie defense was awesome in the first half. Wake seemed very slow. Would be fun to travel to Madison Square Garden for the final 4.
