NIL was supposed to make the strong stronger. But is it actually creating more parity?

Seeing all these upsets and parity across cfb. Now kids who would never have considered going to a tier 2 school will go there if it means there’s a chance to play and make $$. Granted it won’t be as much money as being an elite player at a big school - but the combination of NIL and transfer portal seems like it’s actually creating more opportunities at other schools beyond the blue bloods. With scholarship limits, those kids gotta go somewhere. But not only that…now the kids at the elite schools who are making a ton of $$ without doing anything are also not playing as hard.

The problem is that NIL created a bunch of mercs. A&M lost some selfish five stars to the portal this offseason. And is better for it
Can coaches control their mercenaries?

Seems like parity. Kids now have more incentive to go to a different school to get paid and playing time versus sitting on the 2-3 deep for two years at Bama in hopes of eventually making it to NfL to get paid

I think with Mike Elko, he got y’all on the right track. Coaches like Fisher mixed with NIL/paid players is a receipt for disaster.

Maybe it’s still too early to tell, Vanderbilt has lost to ga st and beaten bama. Bama has lost vandy and beaten Georgia. Ole miss just beat usce as badly as usce beat Kentucky. It definitely appears that way but I’d let the season play out before I declared parity. Maybe nothing changes except the teams that always win it still win it just with an extra loss.

The TP is creating the parity.
Not sure that NIL is really helping any team, just players.

This is why these guys need to be paid by their performance per game,

Strong stronger refers to Oregon, Ohio state, Texas, Miami, etc. Not the closed system of Clemson, bama, lsu, etc. a bag game of $1.5m vs an NIL program of $20m

Can’t keep top 25 team type players three deep on your roster anymore

To be fair, the yell leaders did have a coaching change.. can’t blame them for wanting out of that gay cult

The alleged gap between Oregon Ohio st and Texas vs bama lsu Clemson is way smaller than the gap between Texas and and everyone in the big 12 over the past ten years. I’d look for results first. Times are changing but the more they change you’ll find out the more they stay the same

A 9-3 SEC team will make the playoff as long as their SEC schedule isn't like Ole Miss or Mizzu.

When NIL morphed into a recruiting tool, I thought that that would be the final straw to break Vandy’s ability to get players that could compete against the terrific SEC teams. I also hated how easy it was for our best players to transfer out.
Maybe I was wrong. I still don’t like NIL for recruiting but perhaps there is a lane for us to do well in this system. Maybe this does open things up for the historically weaker program.
After last night’s game, I bet a lot more $ comes in to support NIL for Vandy. What a night!

I *think* what we are seeing is the mid-bottom of the G5 and very bottom of the P4 getting deplorably bad while the top of the G5 and mid-top of the P4 is getting stronger. The very top is about the same.

It did.
The teams who lost yesterday are not "the strong"
You are getting close to figuring things out.

Unless you are Texas with two Top 10 QBs

It’s doing exactly what it was designed to do.
Just like the playoff was designed to keep the SEC/South from winning nearly every year, the NIL/transfer portal was designed to spread the talent around and regain viewers from around the country. You can no longer stack elite talent. They will go where they can play/get paid.
It’s working.

I think the transfer portal has had a bigger impact than has NIL.
It feels like a rotating turnstile of quarterbacks.

I think situations like Nuss and Manning will be the exception from now on. Even if you stay somewhere for years as a back up, there is nothing keeping a team from finding someone better.
If another team is promosing a starting position and money, you go.
