Athlete-only dorms shocked me when I first heard of them.
Many don't interact with the normal classes. They all major in mostly the same thing and have practically their own classrooms, tutors, and athlete-only cafeteria (where they get amazing food all day for free). The UT athletes I saw riding in carts or scooters around DKR.

99% of college football players in America don’t care in the slightest about the name on the front of their jersey.
I disagree in a way, there's still plenty of local and in-state kids that would kill to play for the big in state school they grew up watching.
Sure you'll always need the 5 star national recruits to actually compete for national championships but for any of the big schools like Ohio State, Texas, LSU, etc there's always going to be some 3 and 4 star recruits on the roster from inside the state that would do anything to get on the field for those teams.

Time to start booing these kids / millionaires.

Tennessee fans are done with Nico there is no coming back from this.
Until he and UT reach an agreement.
Then suddenly everyone never had a doubt, support him fully and are already predicting multiple Heismans.
Worst news for the SEC would be the two parting ways.

I agree it makes no sense. Dude is still living off his high school numbers, because he’s the definition of a mid college qb.

See ya, Nico. Hit the road if you’re going to be a little diva.

I'm sure Tenner fans will take this news well.
Fans are so sick of this NIL crap that I don’t think anyone is really that shocked or upset. Coupled with the fact that he didn’t really play up to all the hype, moving on might be the best thing for him and the UT fans.

he just did his taxes and found out he's in a big hole..

It won't matter to the NFL.
Cam Ward QUIT in the middle of a game and will go 1st or 2nd in the draft.
And you have politicians wanting to make NIL tax free..SMDH

Probably right, he isn’t good enough for it to matter.

the service academies (like AF, Navy and Army). Those guys I believe have a commitment unlike anything else in college athletics.

I guess you could consider a 5 year commitment to active military service (followed by 3 years inactive service) after graduation to be unlike commitments to other colleges.

There really need to be contracts with buyouts because the biggest money schools are basically outsourcing their high school recruiting and development to everyone else.

Yeah, was waiting to withhold judgement yesterday. Now that he no-showed practice, I won't be disappointed at all if UT tells him to kick rocks. Trying to hold the team hostage for a raise is shitty. It has to hurt team morale and make it very easy for the locker room to become divided.
What's absolutely insane to me is that he's trying to get a raise after his performance last year. Sampson and the D carried UT last year. If Nico was worth even the money he's reportedly currently making, UT would have hosted a playoff game instead of going to Ohio.
I still think his ceiling is incredibly high, and it wouldn't surprise me if he goes somewhere else and balls out, but at this point I hope UT doesn't budge. And if he comes back I hope he's ready to be booed anytime he misses a read or open receiver.

If it weren’t for kids from the south Ohio State would be about on the level of Michigan State

Jimmy Hyams was interviewed on a Jacksonville radio station this afternoon and dropped this nugget.
Nico will not be back when the spring portal opens. Allegedly the team took a vote and does not want him back, and Heupel supports their decision.

Toothpaste is out of the tube at this point. Fans would boo him out of the building. And knowing Tennessee fans, his life would be miserable.
