The university of Texas is part of the state system and they simply cannot spend money the same as a&m. you people need to know what you are talking about before you

You don’t know what you are talking about. The fact that Texas is a state school has nothing to do with NIL money. The schools don’t pay the money. Private business pay the players to appear in advertisements for the private company. Texas is a rich state with more and bigger private companies to fund NIL deals than Alabama and Louisiana. The entire states of Louisiana and Alabama don’t have anywhere close to the wealth in the Houston and Dallas areas alone. Then add San Antonio, Austin, Waco and other large communities and Texas in a league of their own.

Saban I think is trying to say is that bama didn’t promise any incoming freshman money through nil deals like Texas a/m did.

He's full of shite. Not only is it wrong, he's paid players every year he's been at Alabama.

He's complaining because there's another avenue to do it now, other than the "unaffiliated booster" method he happens to know nothing about.

Candy Edwards rears the ugly head

I dislike Saban but it’s wrong to Candy, Nick, Nick’s wife, Nick’s kids, and the deceased Edwin to keep throwing out this rumor

Eh….who cares about any of those people? Shes a whore, and Nick and Eddie were sleaze balls of the highest degree. Edwards represent everything that’s wrong with this state, hope he’s rotting somewhere

Bama doesn't have $30 mil a year to buy players. Saban lost his edge. Will probably retire in a year or 2.

First off you should have to have played a year in college to get any NIL deal. Second they should have set a limit like 100k a year.
Just to be clear, you are in favor of a maximum wage for certain people, with the beneficiaries being other people who will get rich off their labor, and fans who will get the kind of entertainment to which they are accustomed.

Thats my low key favorite part about Yellowstone the tv show. They talk like Dutton's ranch is the biggest in the world then in the next breath The cowboys from "North Texas" Show up and talk about how there are bigger and wealthier ranches just in their neck of the woods; with no one around to even dream of taking their land.

Its really mind blowing how much wealth there is in Texas.

A friend of mine who works for a professional team said that a program to look out for because of NIL is Maryland. The boys at Under Armour are Maryland grads and are positioning for some big paydays for recruits and transfers

Y’all are mixing wealthy alumni with desperate alumni… many schools have lots of wealth to tap.. the difference is the level of desperation for alumni to buy their titles at am is very high.. as shown by their purchase of previous lsu staff..

Hopefully things will level off in the future as “sponsors” get less motivated and some organization steps on to clear rules up..

As op have stated we are on the verge of being arena football with nil and portals…
I already have loss a little spark about college sports.. hopefully just summers lows.

The NIL has totally disrupted Saban's game, and I suspect it is going to lead to an earlier retirement by Saban than planned. He is not going to go out as a non champion, and NIL is the biggest threat to him on that.

Many athletes get free schooling, free health care, free meals, free lodging, preferential scheduling, etc. Honestly, that should suffice.

This is what I’m constantly saying. Media and so many others act like the student athletes get nothing. They use terms like free labor. Wtf. Those kids are getting free education, free food, free housing, free tutoring, etc. It’s an opportunity to significantly improve their lives that a majority of them would never have without a football scholarship. It’s crazy to me that people don’t recognize that.

I have long said that Saban would retire with Emmert since he has protected him all of these years. Now my theory will either prove itself or not

It's pretty common knowledge TE Danny Lewis got $25k to sign with the gumps.
